When the final whistle blew, the home team had come through again racking up a score of 19-6. With two successful games under their belts, O.F.A. traveled to Tupper Lake. The first tally' was accounted for by Gray, O.F.A.,s defensive tackle, when he recov- ered a Tupper Lake fumble in the end zone. The extra point was unsuccessful. Finally in thc fourth quarter, Sears went around end for the second and final touchdown of the afternoon. making the score 12-0. Due to a muddy' field, and duck hunting condi- tions the Gouverneur Wildcats knocked the props from under the Blue Devils, snapping the O.F.A. vic- tory string with a 20-0 Northern League decision. This deadlocked 0.F.A. and Couverneur for second place in the lNorthern League untouched by the undefeated Red Raiders Bouncing back from their previous defeat the Blue Devils at Canton threw two completed aerlals and got another touchdown on a fifty three yard run by Pete Cole to roll up a 21 d victory Ogdensburg completely dommated the first half both offensively and d fenslxely uarterback Porter was the offensive star as he tossed to Ashley and Sears for two T D s Enjoying their four wins the Devlls led by Coach Powers motored to Potsdam where they faced an arduous struggle with the Sandstoners The first half was a see saw battle between two evenly matched teams ending scoreless With high hopes and a last minute pep talk Ogdensburg received Potsdam s kick in the end zone. Les Porter supported by a very ag- gressive line made a runback of 103 yards for an im- pressive first touchdown. Early in the fourth quarter Co-Captain Heintzelman intercepted a pass, setting the stage for 0.F.A.'s final touchdown. Sears slanted off tackle to make the score 12-0. The extra point was good. adding up the score to 13-0. In the last game of the Blue Devils' campaign they battled Nlassena in the so-called Ngame-of-the-year. Coach Cordie Powers' Devils were hailed by many' as the team to beat the Red Raiders. Due to a mental block and a halfback named Murphy, Massena came out on top 31-7 The new line coach, Lacey Jones, the able assistant of head coach Powers. performed a fine job with the boys up front. This was Coach Powers' most success- ful season. ending with a 5-2 series.
