Toscanini Toddl and 7044236 euae The students of Ogdensburg lfree Academy held their second annual Blue and XX'hite Revue, March 8, 1955 and it was a great success. Produced, directed, and performed by practically everyone, it was made up of dances, songs, skits, and humor. Mr. Van Wfinkle and the school band led off with a medly of tunes which were followed by various numbers. One was a group of lonesome sailors. who, being cast away on an island knew there was Nothing Like A Dame. The sleepy heads were pleading to Mr, Sandman to bring them a dream. Toscanini Todd and his orchestra played a very soothing selection but, due to unexpected interruptions the beauty of The Wlaite Queen Overture was not fully appreciated by the audience. Perhaps the zaniest skit came from Mr. XY'ilhelm and his crazy cast from homeroom 108, better known as the Hernandoes Hideaway of O,lf.A. Singing. dancing C Pj and other talents were illustrated. The game was fairly even as the Red Raiders gained only 20 yards more than O.F.A.. but the Blue Devils could not reach the double stripe. The Blue Devils completed 16 out of 24 passes. Sears scored the lone O.F.A. touchdown on a passout from Barr. The Devils journeyed to Saranac only to come out on the short end of a 15 to 7 decision. The game was hard fought all the way through. The Blue Devils led in the final' minutes on a touchdown by Sears around end and a conversion by Cole on a line smash. Then Blair scampered 57 yards to set up a Saranac touchdown, then smashed off tackle for the score. O.F.A. then tried several passes in the last seconds but failed. O.F.A. met its worst defeat in Malone 44 to 0. The Blue and White could no nothing right. The Malone team was a smart, well coached outfit. Front row, lefi la right: j. Petrilli. R. Barr, R. Sears. Particularly outstanding was Xwayne Larose who blocked a Tupper punt, picked it up and then scampered to the goal. The score might have been higher but O.F.A. was hampered by many penalties. The Blue Devils went to Gouverneur in high hopes which only ended in defeat before the afternoon was over. O.F.A. had two tallies that occurred by a blocked and recovered punt by Wfayne Larose in a line plunge by Dick Sears. Canton gave O.F.A. its fifth defeat on its home field. Canton scored early in the first period on a set-up by an O.F.A. fumble. The O.F.A. highlight of the game was a 70-yard run by Dick Sears. The O.If.A. machine again bogged down on a muddy field in their last game. Potsdam downed the Devils 12 to O on a line plunge and an intercepted pass. The Blue Devils opened the 1954 track season by playing host to Xlifatertown High School. At the close of the afternoon, O.F.A. had succeeded in placing 4 firsts to Water- towns 6, with a difference of 57 points in favor of the invaders. The second game of the year and the first League Meet was with Franklin Academy of Malone at home. The Devils made an impressive showing even though they did not actually win. They contributed 8 first places to their record with Malone contributing 3 first places. After two consecutive cancelled meets due to excessive rain, the O.F.A. tracksters met Potsdam in Ogdensburg. The Devils turned back the Sandstoners after capturing 8 firsts to Potsdamis 2. The 31st Annual VanDusen resulted in a 51f3 point upset by the Red Raiders of Massena. The Sons of Satan started off on the right foot by downing Saranac Lake 9-6 but were halted in the next two games by a powerful Norwood-Norfolk team 7-1 and Malone 8-5. The Devils went on to edge Canton 3-2 only to be defeated by local St. Mary's 7-3 and St. Lawrence Central 11-8. Now the Blue and Wfhite started to roll by taking four consecutive games. The Devils topped Massena 5-3, clipped Gouyerneur 2-1, turned the tide on Potsdam 3-2, and licked Tupper Lake in a high scoring slug-fist 15-12. After that deserving comeback, they went on to edge Massena 11-10 in the semi- finals at Canton and a chance to have a crack at the finals. At Snell Field in Potsdam the fighting Blue Devils lost a tough one to Norwood-Norfolk 4-3. In the return match Robare of the Norwood-Norfolk Nine blanked the Devils with only one hit in a 3-0 duel.
