Standing-Danny Freeman, Herbert Osterbur, Clarence Osterbur, Mr. John Waldrip, Forrest Danner, Robert Sattler, and Glen Busboom. TRACK Above is pictured the track team of 1946, with the exception of three boys. They are Robert Osterbur, Walter Robbins, and Russell Green, all of whom graduated. The team competed in five triangular meets, and the Urbana open, the county meet, and the district meet. Here are the events and the boys who competed in them: 100 and 220-Walter Robbins and Forrest Danner: 440- Glen Busboom and Herbert Osterburg 880-yard run-Glen Busboom, Herbert Osterbur, and Donald Jacobs: mile run-Donald Jacobs and David Plotner: high hurdles-Robert Osterbur and Danny Freeman: low hurdles-Robert Os- terbur, Danny Freeman, and Walter Robbins: pole vault-Russell Green: discus-Russell Green and Herbert Osterbur: high jumpd-Robert Osterbur and Russell Green: relay-Robert Osterbur, Walter Robbins, Russell Green, and Glen Busboom. The leading point man was Glen Busboom followed by Robert Osterbur. The season was fairly good as a whole. SOFTBALL Early in September, the softball season opened with twenty boys reporting for practice. There were six boys-Glen Busboom, Herbert Osterbur, Forrest Danner, Bob Sattler, Clarence Osterbur, and Dale Carter-who had previous experience on last year's team. At the end of the season these following boys had gotten a permanent position on the softball team: Clarence Osterbur, pitcher: Dale Carter, catcher: Herbert Osterbur, flrst base: Herbert Bluhm, second base: Erwin Osterbur, third base: Glen Busboom, shortstop: Bob Sattler, left Held: Forrest Danner, center Held: David Woods, right field. The team completed the season of nine games without mishap. Although they lost quite a few games, everybody gained a lot of experience. The team ended up with two wins and seven losses. This was the fourth year on the varsity for Herbert Osterbur and Glen Busboom and the third year for Clarence Osterbur, Danny Freeman and Elvin Osterbur, Best of luck to next year's team!
