Heretofore work in dramatics had been limited to the junior and senior plays: consequently the other classes had no opportunity to participate in work of this kind. Membership in A'The Maroon Curtain, as the club is known, is open to all students seriously interested in learning the principles of acting by participating in various types of dramatic work. Because the group was late in organizing, the members decided to limit their activities to three one-act plays this year. They hope to get into other phases of dramatic work next year. The three one-act plays chosen for presentation on April I8 were a comedy. Life o' the Party : a mystery, 'AThe Jeweled Hand : and a drama entitled Hurricane Hill. Most of the members of the club attended the matinee performance of Shakespeares Antony and Cleopatra presented by the Illini Theater Guild at the University of Illinois on February 28. Since the club is a new organization. it is impossible to say how successful it will be. However, membership is voluntary and the quality of the work done should be high since only those genuinely interested participate, The officers elected were: President, Helen Bluhm: Vice-President, Jeannie Fry: Secretary-Treasurer, June Bradley: Reporter, Elvin Dean Mauk. 24.
