' i Jeannie Fry, June Bradley, Billie Sattler, Phyllis Anderson CHEERLEADERS Shortly before the opening of the basketball season of 1945-46 Mr. llay asked for candidates for cheerleaders. lle explained the principal qualifications which a good cheerleader should have such as enthusiasm to inspire the cheering section at each game. There were three names turned in to Mr. Hay for tryouts including Phyllis Anderson, Billie joyce Sattler, and Jeannie Fry but before the election was held it was suggested and voted to have cheerleaders for the first team and cheerleaders for the second team. As this was a good idea, june Bradley added her name to the group. As Phyllis and Billie were cheerleaders last season and proved themselves to the student body in their ability to keep the team and fans in good spirit, they were elected for first team cheerleaders. june and .leannie were selected to lead yells for second team games. The first team cheerleaders wore maroon pleated skirts with white blazer jackets trimmed in maroon. The reserve cheerleaders wore maroon pleated skirts with white slip-over sweaters. The loyalty of the cheerleaders is recognized to be of invaluable help in uphold- ing the morale of both teams. Une of the favorite yells is: Yea, team! Fight, fight, fight, fight, tight, fight, fight. Yea, team, fight! T110 1946 Maroon
