I RESPECT OF PROPERTY We, the students of Oelwein High School believe that we should- , 1. Never damage or deface school property ibuildings, furnishings, or groundsj. Q ' 2. Never damage or deface any public or privately-owned buildings or other property. 3. Respect the personal possessions of others. SELF DISCIPLINE AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ' We believe that we should- 1. Show respect for our parents, teachers, adults and other students. 2. Avoid cruelty to others in the form of ridicule and gossip. 3. Be courteous at all times. 4. Refrain from wasting time in school. 5. Show a sense of responsibility by respecting and obeying all laws and regulations tot school, town, state, et ceteral whether or not we are in favor of them. 6. Avoid following the crowd, rather, act as individuals. 7. Promote school spirit. 8. Be honesty do our own school work and refrain from taking part in any dishonest or unfair practices. 9. Do our school work and fulfill all obligations carefully and promptly. 10. Participate in school activities and other wholesome recreational, social and cultural activities. ll. Refrain from showing personal affections in public. 12. Never use vulgar or profane language. 13. Never smoke on the school premises. 14. Never drink alcoholic beverages. 15. Attend church regularly and participate in church activities. OPERATION OF AUTOMOBILES We believe that we should- 1. Know and obey all state and city traffic laws at all times. 2. Observe school driving and parking regulations. This will include- a. Parking cars diagonally in the school parking lot. b. Using the designated entrance and exit. ' c. No exhibition driving. 3. Drive with proper respect for pedestrians and other motorists and exercise particular caution and consider- ation in case of unfavorable road and weather conditions. SOCIAL LIFE We believe that we should- 1. Abide by curfew laws. 2. Have an adult chaperone present at all parties and be responsible for behavior of those attending. 3. Be considerate when going out in the evening. a. Tell parents where we will be during the evening. b. Reach a mutual agreement with parents concerning time to return home. c. Notify parents of any unusual delay. 4. Represent our school in a respectable manner during school hours and outside of school, being especially conscious of our obligations when we are on school trips. PERSONAL APPEARANCE We believe that we should- 1. Wear appropriate clothing to school. Girls should wear dresses or sweaters tblousesj and skirts.
