Nevertheless, Bob became a very capable re- serve forward. He was the fastest man on the squad and one of the best ball handlers. DEAN CHRISTIANSEN Q Two major letters in basketball. Playing both for- ward and guard and scoring well from either, Dean proved to be a fine competitor and team player. JIMI DEYO Q One major letter in basketball. Clever dribbling and accurate passing were his outstanding skills. Jim was slated to be next year's mainstay but enlisted in the world's best team, the U. S. Navy. DICK FRIDLEY Q First year in basketball. Placed at disadvantage by his inexperience, Dick nevertheless developed into a capable player. JACK HANCOCK Q Two major letters in basketball. A skillful and consistant scoring forward. Jack's playing' was character- ized by his tenacious defensive and rugged rebounding. Coaches placed him on the first All-Conference team. ARLO JENSEN Q A rough, tough guard, Olel' was the spirit lifter of the squad. His jovial manner served to apologize for his football tactics. JACK RICE Q One major letter in basketball. A deceptive pivot player, Jack was the leading scorer on the '45 quintette. Coaches from the opponent schools voted him All-Con- ference center. BOB RUTI-IERFORD Q Two major letters in basketball. Hitting his stride in the tournament games, Bob was the reserve center. He was placed at center on the second All-Conference team. HOWARD SMITH Q Two major letters in basketball. One of the most outstanding defensive guards in O. H. S. history. How- ard proved the ironman of the squad when he held the opponents' high scorers to a few points a game. Unani- mous choice for All-Conference guard.
