VYe wish to express our sincere thanks to all who helped in making' our graduation possible, Mary Lukens Eva Dee Pershing Ives Pruett THE ODQNIAN CLASS PROPHECY The more I kept looking at that long. mysterious letter, the more curious I became. I walked over to the table where I had re- luctantly placed the letter only a few minutes before. VVithout listen- ing to my conscience I started to open the letter, but in doing so I glanced again at the front and read the Do not open until the year of 1965 again. The postman had just delivered the letter. and ever since I had become more and more curious. But my conscience got the better of me and I tossed the letter carelessly aside again. and went about my work. As I was going into the kitchen, I happened to glance at the class of 52's,' picture hanging in my bedroom. This started we wonder- ing just what my old classmates were doing and wishing that I could see them. It had been a full twelve years and would soon be thirteen years since I had last seen them on the night of graduation. I still couldn't get the letter off my mind. The more I thought about that letter the more curious I becameg linally tossing all cau- tion to the winds, I opened the letter. I did feel a twinge of remorse, but I consoled myself with the thought that it would soon be 1965 anyway. I began reading the letter and was amazed that it contained the very question that I had just been asking myself about my class- mate. The letter read as follows: joe Humeriekhouse, the president of our class, carried his poli- tics a little farther and is now campaigning for president of the United States. joe hasn't married yet: his policy is that marriage and politics do not mix. Helen Smiley, the little girl of the Senior class, had been head nurse of the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for three years. She finally resigned her nursing career to marry the chief surgeon. In- stead of devoting her time to humanity she is now devoting her time to raising little doctors. Richard Smiley, one of the basketball players, is now a very competent mechanic for The General Motors Garage in Raglesville, Indiana. He is married to Nancy Sinclair, one of the former cheer leaders of Odon High. Nancy is now teaching a lot of little grease monkeys how not to yell. Lois Corn, that little dark-haired beauty, has now retired from the nursing profession. She just married a very successful hair dress- er in New York by the name of Monsieur jim Adams. Helen Shake, the little girl with the sweet smile, is very happy now. She can be with her Tommy all the time. Helen, Tommy, and Tommy jr., live on a little farm east of Gdon. Joyce Hugunin, the brain of the Senior Class. has turned out to be a career lady. She is a professor at Indiana University, teaching English, and literature. She has never married. but is very much in- terested in the embalming business. Maurice Miller, namely Luky,', is running a very large super market at Raglesville, Indiana. His charming little wife. Norma Pruett. does all his bookkeeping for him. THE ODONIAN Jerry Neiswanger, another basketball player, is taking his team to the semi-linals. His team has taken the state for three consecutive years. Jerry is coaching at our old Gdon High School. He is now married to his blonde high school sweetheart. Marilyn Helm, called l'Frazz by her classmates, has joined the Navy and is following her husband, Rich, around. They havenlt been married ve1'y long and canit stand to be separated. Isn't that sweet! Jack Byrer, that fleet-footed basketball player, is a notorious bank robber. He is married to a gun-moll named Nancy. VVe guess Mrs. Freed didn't give him enoug'h discipline in high school. Gerald Rrinegar is a very noted lawyer. He is now working on a case in the court house at VVashing'ton, Indiana. He likes being there because he can be with a certain teacher all the time. Gerald is very handsome, isn't he, Dorothy? Jeanie Barnard, alias Mrs. Pee Wee Riggins, is now a private secretary to her husband, the owner of the Odon Milling' Company. Jeanie and Pee Wee have a very talented young' daughter, who re- cently, at the age of twelve, appeared on television as Miss Music of l965 . Sue Hanna, with the raven hair, is married to I,eroy Farren, a broker in a big' business firm in Indianapolis. Indiana. The Farrens are faring pretty well with a pair of curly-blcmnde-haired twins. Bruce Harper, who was called Muscles , is a minister at Shiloh. His sermons are very stirring and he is proclaimed to be a second llilly Sunday. Congratulations, lflruce. Paul McCarter, the quiet one, is a farmer east of Odon. He runs a ve1'y la1'ge farm and is voted to be the most eligible bachelor of the year. O. K. girls, now is your chance. Barbara McRoberts, the girl with the giggle, is Mrs. Derald Has- ler. She and her husband are proprietors of the Grocery and Feed Store, Restaurant, Greenhouse, Gas Station, Taxi Service, Bus Stop and City Hall combined, called Farlen. Farlen has a population of thirty-six people-all Haslers. Ives Pruett, the tallest one in the class, is now married too. Guess who? None other than that charming' little lady, Eva Dee Pershing. Ives is a big dairy farmer in New Jersey. Guess what kind of cattle they have-that's right, Jerseys. Eva Dee is Ives' cute little dairy maid. janet Foglesong has married a Dare Devil Motorcycle Rider and is coaching him on to many victories. Her husband is Robert Laughlin, from Switz City, Indiana. They live in a very modern and up-to-date trailer, the reason being that Robert's profession keeps him on the move all the time. Ronnie Fisher, nicknamed VVollie is a very famous poet. Witli his poetry he has stirred nations. The poem that made him famous was the class poem he wrote before graduating. His favorite pastime is standing on the street corners in New York whistling at all the girls. Guess he lives up to his nickname, eh P Marcile Howard is Mrs. Ralph DeMotte. Her husband is the THE ODONIAN owner of the big trucking line, Fruhauf. The happy couple have one child, a chubby little black-haired boy. Dorothy Drieman is an elementary school teacher in Washing- ton, Indiana. She isn't married yet, but she is being courted by a very promising young lawyer by the name of Gerald Brinegar. Delores Resler has continued her singing career and is a big opera star in the Metropolitan Opera House. She is married to Slats Courtney. They have live curley-blonde-haired boys and one girl. The boys are basketball stars and the little black haired girl sings. Jim Ramsey, the easy going guy. is married to Priscilla Fish. They live at Burns City and are making millions by running a fish hatchery. Jim, who used to be a policeman, is giving lessons to the boys from Burns City on How Not to VVreck a Car . It seems that Iim learned from experience. Rowena Burks has gone to a beautician school and is an up and coming hair stylist. She is also the personal hair stylist of Elizabeth Taylor. Rowena is the only one in the class to make Hollywood. Hurrah, for her! Sue Humerickhouse has flown right out of the Senior class and is an air stewardess for the American Airlines. She is married to the pilot, a very handsome young man. whom we all know as Dean Porter. Roger Riggins, a bashful boy, owns a big farm at Raglesville. We guess he wasn't too bashful to ask a certain girl to marry him, anyway he is married to Mary Myers. They are the proud parents of triplets-Huey, Luey, and Duey. Bessie McCarter is working in the office as stenographer for Dearmin and Company at Odon. She is a new bride: her husband is a salesman for the Fuller Brush Company. Bessie and her husband live in Happy Acres just outside of Odon. Mary Lukens is now a Home Economics teacher. She graduated from Indiana University and began her career teaching at Odon. She is engaged to a new doctor who has just started practicing medicine at the Odon Clinic. Rosalee Williams, the red head of the Senior class, is telephone operator for the Bell Telephone System at Elnora. Rosalee is mar- ried to Max Woodsmall, and it seems she spends most of her time calling her husband. The Woodsmalls have one child, a little red haired, freckled faced boy. I finished the letter, satisfied with myself that I hadn't done any- thing wrong in reading it. I'm still curious though as to who sent it. But how would any human know the future anyway? Maybe Fate herself wrote the letter. I have just about come to that con- clusion. I-Iere,s thanks to her! He is 5' 7' and has had quite a lot of experience and should show up good. JIM ADAMS. a six foot Junior, has also had quite a bit of experi- ence with a basketball and should be a real Bulldog in the coming season. JUNIOR COOK, a sophomore standing 6' 4 . Junior will no doubt be an outstanding center and will help win several games for Odon, we hope. JERRY NEISVVANCER, a 6' Z forward, made most of his points from pivot shots and one-handed shots from the side. He is a Senior this year and will be missed. IVES PRUETT is Odon's rebound man and plays guard. He made most of his points on tip-ins and long shots. He is 6' 2 Senior and his contributions will be missed next year. JACK BYRER is a Senior and is noted for his speed and two-handed set shot. He was not a regular, but was always off with a bang when sent in for a replacement. RICHARD SMILEY is another fast man and a good shot. He is also a good defense man. He was the coach's favorite substitute when someone on the Hoor couldn't handle his position. Richard is a Senior this year. BOB BOYD is a Junior who contributed a lot to the team this year and should be a good player for the oncoming team. BOB RAMSEY, a Sophomore and a fast forward, saw lots of action this season and should be in good shape for the Bulldogs next year. THE ODONIAN MUSIC DEPARTMENT Last summer we went to lndianapolis to State V. F. W. conven- tion, and won hrst. The next day we went to Greensburg and played at the Odd Fellows Home. The band started out the year with a new director, Mr. Dale XYilliams, XVednesday, September 5, l95l, we participated in the Indiana State Fair Marching Contest, after six rehearsals, and re- ceived the hrst place award. It was the second time in three years that our band had the honor of being state champions. September 14, we went to the Ellettsville Fall Festival marching contest, won the first division, and played an hour's concert in the evening, Saturday, October 20, we journeyed to Cannelton, Indiana, for the Indiana School Music Association marching contest. VVe placed first division in Class C. Basketball season soon started and the band made their initial marching appearance of the season, proudly wearing their new tennis slippers purchased for us by the Athletic Department. The band ap- peared at every home game including the one in which a queen was crowned. Wie were all hoping that one of our two band members, Helen Smiley and Delores Resler, would be crowned the queen, but a classmate, Nancy Sinclair, defeated them at the polls. Solo-ensemble contest time! Twenty of the band members par- ticipated, bringing home eleven lirsts. eight seconds, and two thirds. a good record of achievement. When basketball season was over, we prepared in earnest for the Indiana School Musicpconcert contest to be held in April and for a concert to be given in the gym March 30th. Saturday, April 26, we go to Evansville to compete in the annual Lions Convention Marching Contest. Last year the band placed hrst in this contest at French Lick. Let's hope we can repeat this year.
