FOOTBALL The I947 football season was opened with the Merry Go Round , on September I2 at Davenport. Four teams, Odessa, Wilbur, Reardon and Davenport, participated. This year's football team was composed of 26 players, I2 which had been k d Ll d initiated in this sport in previous years. The Coaches were LeRoy Hoo an oy d I tt We will be sorry to lose three Seniors who Stannard. Seventeen boys receive e ers. have played football since their freshman year. They are: Walter Diefe, Benny Smith, and Arthur Thaut. A Senior, Walter Diefe, is the first winner of the Alumni Inspirational Award, He is a four year letterman. The Honorary Captain for the year is Alvin Fink, who will be back fighting next year. ' At the close of the season the boys and their fathers were invited to a football ban uet which was held December I7. The toastmaster was Don Evevolt and the main Q speaker was Coach Phil Sorboe. Films of the boys, in action, in some of their games, were shown.
