TIGER TALES 1948 CLASS HISTORY lcontinuedj All the Sophomores enioyed this year very much and are looking forward to next year when they can walk into the Odessa High School as Juniors, The iuniors did not have very many events on the activity calendar but neverthe- less we were kept busy during the entire year. Class officers for the first semester were, President, Lorus Quast, Vice President, Vera Lenhart, Secretary, lvlarilu Giese, Treasurer, Frances Voise, Representative, Reta Horst. Class officers for the second semester were, President, Lorus Quast, Vice President, Reta Horst, Secretary, Marilu Giese, Treasurer, Meryl Williams, Representative, Vera Lenhart. The Junior Class play, Her Emergency Husband , was presented on November 22. The ticket sales were very good and the play was enioyed by all. The Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom was the most important event of the year. We chose as our theme Tulip Time In Holland . The gym was beautifully decorated in aqua and white. The menu for our banquet included crab cocktail, swiss steak, mashed po- tatoes, gravy, fruit salad, string beans, parkerhouse rolls, apple pie a' la'mode for dessert and coffee as a beverage. Lorus Quast and Vern Jantz were made members of the National Honor Society. Our Senior year took off with the Freshman initiation and dance as the first im- portant event. , The Frosh were numerous and good sports. They came to school dressed in their silly outfits, scared and a little hazy about their prayer. By the time evening rolled around they all looked civilized once again, There was a good turn out at the dance, and a good time had by everyone. The rest of the year went by without much excitement until plans for our Senior sneak began to take form, nobody knew where they wanted to go, or what they wanted to do when they got there. With Spokane on the list as the place to go we decided to leave May l4, and take in the Lilac Festival and other points of interest, Now at last graduation, the biggest event of the year and the same question, how are we going to do it? With the appointment of a few committees the details were gradually taken care of, class night brought ci lot of laughs for everyone. Now we have our diplomas and our high school days are over and l wonder if we aren't just a little sorry.

TIGER TALES E- T948 CLASS PROPHECY In the summer of l968, Mr. Weddle, while on his vacation, returned to Odessa for a brief visit. As a guest of the Chamber of Commerce at their weekly luncheon, he met Walter Deife. Walt told him he has taken over the Tractor and Implement Co. Mr. Weddle noticed, upon leaving the luncheon, the numerous little implements that quickly attached themselves to Walt. Entering the Corner Store, Mr. Weddle met Ben Smith lust leaving. Ben said he was on a visit from Alaska where he has been gold mining. He introduced his wife and three little Eskimos. Ben said Art Winter has finally graduated from college in Yankton, S. D. His first sermon, next Sunday, is entitled: Follow Me . One of the new attractions in the town is the art gallary which is operated by Wayne Lenhart. The outstanding feature is that most of the pictures are painted by the operator himself. He is still trying to paint a horse that really looks like a horse. Coming out of her beauty shop was Emogene Starkel. She told Mr. Weddle she very seldom had women customers. The numerous curly headed men in town had made him curious, but now he knows the answer. Emogene said Betty Lou Schwartz and her husband had moved to Hollywood. lt was for his health, her husband said. While talking to Frances Voise, Mr. Weddle was surprised to hear that she and her husband have taken over the Lyric Theater and advertise it as the Only Theater in the U. S. Showing Only Wild and Wooley Westerns. Visiting the community hospital, Mr. Weddle met Lois Ott and Vera Lenhart. Lois is head doctor and Vera head nurse. Between them they run one of the best little hospitals in the country, Lois, who was never one to gossip, said Bob Hemmerling was again courting B. G. Williams following the breakup of his third marriage. Bob is the shy type and iust can't seem to get up enough courage for the big question. Verna said that Marilu Giese and Lorus Quast were married and living in Wash., D. C. Although Lorus is an emminent member of Congress, he is in the doghouse at home. Marilu, who is a brunette, didn't appreciate the fact that she found a long, blond hair on his suit collar. At the school house, Mrs. Weddle met Meryl Williams, who is one of those old- maid school teachers. She told him that Vern Jantz is a professor at a college and has three of the orneriest little Jantzes you ever saw. Art Thaut arrived at the school just in time for his board meeting. As sleeping is his favorite pastime, we can imagine what he did, He is one of the community's most prosperous farmers. Leaving the school house, Mr. Weddle met Reta Horst who said that she and her husband were rather busy raising babies and beef, She said Dorothy,Groh and husband were raising kids and cattle. Having enioyed his visits, Mr. Weddle boarded his private plane at the local air- port and left for his home. He intends to continue with his very popular family band.
