T948 -. A.. TIGER TALES CLASS HISTORY Twenty-one green and yellow freshmen entered the Odessa High School in I944 with great hopes for the coming year. Reta Horst, Betty Lou Schwartz, Frances Voise, Marilu Giese, Meryl Williams, Lois Ann Gunderson, Dorothy Oroh, Vera Lenhart, Vern Jantz, Lorus Quast, Walter Deife, Arthur Winter, Ioworth Dormaier, Ben Smith, Bill and Jack Stokes, Bobby Hemmerling, Arthur Thaut, Loren Horst, Wayne Lenhart, and Lyle Dumaw. We chose the following officers for the first semester: President, Lorus Quast, Vice President, Lois Gunderson, Secretary, Meryl Williams, Treasurer, Ben Smith, Class Representative, Bill Stokes. L Our second semester officers were: President, Lorus Quast, Vice President, Walter Deife, Secretary, Arthur Thaut, Treasurer, Ben Smith, Representative, Vern Jantz. Freshman initiation was held October I9, when the seniors delighted in torturing us. After a hilarious day everyone resumed their rightful character at a dance sponsored by the seniors. This year we were in charge of an Armistice Day assembly. Mr, Moore spoke. .lack and Bill Stokes and Lyle Dumaw withdrew during the year. Lois Gunderson and Meryl Williams were made members of the Honor Society. The Sophomores, in order to begin the year right, started by electing the officers for the first semester. Those elected were: President, Lorus Quast, Vice President, Vera Lenhart, Secretary, Marilu Giese, Treasurer, Dorothy Groh, Sergeant-at-arms, Walter Deife, and Miss Marie Franz as our advisor. We had two student body officers, Reta Horst, Yell Queen, first semester and yell princess second semester, Lorus Quast, assistant secretary of the A.S.B. The Sophomores sponsored several activities during the year. A float was entered in the festival parade. This won fourth prize. A dance was given on the twenty-second of March with Saint Patricks Day as our 'theme and Ritzville as our guests. We played games and danced. Intermission was held at ten-thirty and refreshments were served. An assembly was given on April 26th. There being no special theme, a variety of skits were presented.
