FNTI RTAINMFNTS All work and no plav makes Jack adull boy lsa favorlte sax mg of the Junlors and to prevent any possxblllty of such a mls fortune among thelr Sophomore frlends the Jumors gave a carnival ln thelr honor at the Gym on the nlght of February 26 1915 The DI omoters of the carmval had secured onlv the best at tractlons and rumors scattered among the chlldren drew large crowds to the carmval grounds The Devil s Gllde dxd a rush mg business early IH the evenmg but the other attractlons soon clalmed thelr share of attendance Ihe Fortune Teller the Snake Charmer the Shm Woman and the Fat Man dlvxded honors wlth Bluebeard s wlves the Wlld man from Borneo the Komlcal Kuss and the Monkey and hls Keeper The Band whlch was a favorite attractlon wlth all furmshed muslc throughout the evenmg The Wheel of Chance was rather popular but the Refreshment Stand was most popular of all Ice cream cones stlck candy pop corn strel and a Movmg Plcture Show whxch brought the carmval to a close were attended by large crowds lhe klddles who attended the carmval w1ll llw 'us b lleve It the 1oll1est show on earth lf not the blggest ATHI Novemberfl 1914 th Sophomores entertamed the lumors at the0 H S Gym The Gvm was decorated ID Iunxor colors and pennants representlng dxfferent colleges Phe p nnants furmshed a very approprlate decoratlon smce the real purpose of thls meet mg was an Athletlc Contest The meet was as truly repres n tatlve of real College hte as lf the partnclpants were mdeed Harvard or Yale students as they pretended to be The pennants and colors designated the dlfferent groups of collere rooter who enthusnastlcallv and loudlv supported thelr representatives ln the contests While the performers ln the varlous contests worked hard to uphold the nam and standmg of thelr college the on lookers cheered and encouraged them Each performer proved a star IU hrs or her partlcular class When the final score was counttd IVIISSOUTI Umverslty was declared the champlon At the announcement of the declsxon there was great ex lamfltlons of Joy ln the M U quarters but when a c ull to supper was glven the wlnners lard aslde any feelings of pride thxt mlgnt have resalted from such a vlctory and mingled wlth the losers ln a mo t compamonable way D9IlLlllUw refreshments were served after whlch the meet and the varlous events were discus ed and commented on It surely was a great success as all who took part ln the meet could tell you A Sl' PATRICK ENTERTAINVIENT ORD H BI-'R On the evemng of Xlarch 19 the Freshmen entertained ln honor of St Patnlck and the Semors Phe Gym was approprlatelv deco rated un green and whlte Immedlately after their arrnval the guests were ushered to an old fashloned well where punch was served from thr old oaken bucket From there they were led to the Bl unev stone whlch each one was requlred to klss Thev were then given forks and told to plck up peanuts from the floor and put them m sacks at one end of the gym After thxs several were chosen to come to the mlddle ot the room were bhndfolded glven poons and then told to feed peanuts to thelr partner potato race followed ln whlch the partlclpants walked from one end of the gvm to the other each wxth a potato on hrs head Partners were next secured bv means of lrlsh names on slips of paper and each couple told an Irlsh yoke These partners were retamed whlle 1 deluclou two cour e lunch was served An rmprovlsed lltnev I I ia I 1 J 1 J THIS CARNIVAL A m.
