WITH TWIRPING on the mind, Wanda Rudicil, Joy Sands and Martine Horn discuss the dating possibilities. KENNY FLETCHER purchased a permit and made Sandy Link carry piles and piles of books. L - L -.-- -E Council Initiates Twirp Dance The girls got their chance in February as Twirp Week rolled around again. Sponsored by the Student Council, Twirp Week has become an annual event. For a week the boys made girls carry their books by purchasing special permits. The highlight of the week was the twirp dance on Thursday night. The girls paid for the live music provided by the Good Guys. Broke girls were common and the fe- males agreed that it was a good thing twirp week comes only once each year. Maasai'-

Singing groups, in- TerpreTers, and even hula dancers made Their debufs in The annual evenT, sponsored by The Odessa High choral deparTmenT. This year, winning firsT place was Clifton Word, who is widely known for his vocal TalenT. Second place honors wenT To a Tolk- music Trio consisTing of Peggy Brown, Mike Peoples, KenneTh Bowles, and STeve McCleery. Adding a dash of The rornanTic islands, Cyn- Thia Chappell danced her way To Third place by doing a hula. ACCEPTING HIS first-place Trophy, Clifton Word receives a loud round ' of applause. SHOWING HER winner's smile, Cynthia Chappell displays her trophy for ihird place. SERVlNG AS masTer of ceremonies, Larry GaTlin added much spice To The Talent show. 771 A LIVELY foursome-Kenneth Bowles, Peggy Brown, Steve McCleery and Mike Peoples-Took The honors on second place.

ve M PEP RALLIES reveal the hidden feeling that students seldom show except during such moments. Q Q 0 O Spirit Becomes Reality in Qgmbols A red broncho, a song, a band, jumping girls . . . a bell . . . symbols of a school and its spirit. The red broncho galloped many miles across' the field house floor and football fields. Spirit ll, a fat little shetland, brought spirit to many O.H.S. fans. The song linked O.H.S. students arm over arm while they sang Hail Odessa High School . Stirring music from an excellent band moved players and fans to a frenzy in pre-game pep rallies. Lead- ing those rallies six girls literally lumped their way to fame. Last came a bell briefly painted scarlet and white which became the most coveted ob- iect of district 2-AA football battles. These symbols were contrasts in spirit their own vvay, all a part of Contrast '66 THE RED victory hat worn by Assistant Principal Murra S 'd ll b ' y pr e ecame one of the favorite traditions around Odessa High.
