radio club promotes wel are o college Bringing a new note in club activity this year was the Odessa College Amateur Radio Club. This club was organized this year with five char- ter members and two sponsors. The club is designed to give the members the pleasures and benefits of the associa- tion of persons commonly interested in amateur radio. Their purpose is to further exchange information and cooperation between members, to promote radio knowledge, fraternalism and individual operating efficiency, and to do so conduct club programs and activities as to advance the general in- terest and welfare of amateur radio and Odessa College. In addition to speak- ing to people over the world, the members collect QSL cards which they hang on the wall. Serving the Amateur Radio club this year were Brad Webb, presidentg Larry Sailors, treasurerg James Mason, and George Willis, sponsors. Michael Terry was the only member holding an operator's license al- though other members used the set. UPPER LEFT: larry sailors, treasurer, sends a message to an amateur ham. ocba - broadcasts news rom odessa college The Odessa College Broadcasting Association KOCV-FM was led by the Odessa College Radio Station. All the members who had contributed to the station have at least a third class operator's license. The OCBA raised funds for scholarships in radio by sponsoring bake sales and record sales in which each album sold for one dollar. The club ran the ra- dio station. It announced OC basketball games, activities on campus, news and provided an extensive music program, Mon- day through Friday, 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. OCBA was spon- sored by Mr. Wallace Jackson. Heading the club as officers this year were: John Carter, pres. and also student station man- ager, Carl Rodgers. Other members inclu- ded: John Mclntyre, Robert Tayor, Gary Hopper, Janice Kirk- land, Robert Brock, and Sam Howell. 'UPPER RIGHT: OCBA raised money by selling records. ,X X, S Rx 5 f wra promotes campus spirit by coed games The Women's Recrea- tion 'Association created fun for both men and women as they sponsored coed volleyball, basketball, and softball. A prime goal was sportsmanship during game. The W R A a l s 0 brought guests to the campus as they sponsored the Collegiate Volleyball Tournament and the Permian Basin and Queen Bee Volleyball Tournaments. Leading the club were Kathy Gardener, president, Peanut Jones, vice-president, Karla Wadsworth, secretary-treasurer, Jane Coleman, point re- corder, and ICC representative, Pam Miller. Mrs. Rosie Wood- son was sponsor ofthe group. I52
