spectators enjo skill displayed b wranglers Coach L. E. McCol- loch built from a sturdy foundation as his Wrangler Round- ballers began preparing for their 1969-70 season. Returning lettermen from last season's team were Wayne Allen, Ronnie Alvey, John Cambell, Kenny Davis, Fred Hunter, Johnny Len- ford, and Carlos Thomas. With these seven lettermen paving the way, the Wranglers aimed toward the Conference title after finishing third with a 16-10 record the year before. Added members to the team were Robert Chavez, James Townsdin, Mike Steinkoenig, Rudy Arredondo, Byron England, George Romero, and Robert Smith. Odessa College opened conference play against Hokard County and quickly gave notice to conference members that the Wranglers would have to be dealt with in this year's Western Junior Athletic Confer- ence Basketball race. Coach lVlcColloch,s excellent bench strength and balanced scoring attack provided the difference in the game. The always running Wrangler attack appeared to gain a step or so in play. The Wranglers proved that they could compete and defeat top quality competi- tion. They also displayed the ability to come from behind and most importantly demonstrated the ability to counteract height with harrassing defensive tactics. Wrangler basketball under the guidance of Coach McColloch offered fans a fast ooting offense combined with a .defense ob- sessed with stealing the ball. Moments of inactivity were simply non-existent in Wrangler basketball. moving, quick sh I JT?1'l'ff4:fYf' - . 'ga
