Night workouts were a must for the Wrangler volleyhallers. The girls praetieed against each other in order to prepare for matches with other schools. Rosie Ramos Sponsors The Wrangler volleyball team had an inactive season far as matches were concerned, but spent most of the year working on the high school volleyball tournament. Area schools were in- vited to the two-day event, and the girls' main duty was to referee and umpire each game. Serving as director and chair- man of the A-team division was WRA President Connie' Stottsgl Julie Pressly and Sylvia Rodriquez worked as chairmen of the Ceci Arroyo, Carliss Baker, Queen Bee Tournament. Rosie Ramos, sponsor of the OC vol- leyball team. also sponsored the tourney. Besides working on the workouts in preparation for Texas Tech. The team was Big Spring visitors, hut fell Listed as participants on tournament, the girls held night matches with Howard County and victorious as they conquered the to the douhle-T girls in Luhhock. the Wranglnxr volleyball team were Susan Johnson. Sharyn Nun, and Paula Riley. Also playing the sport were Sylvia and Margie Rodriquez. Jan Scivally. The main chore of the Senoritas was preparing half-time shows for several basket- ball gamesg besides the home games, the group performed at Levelland and for the Chamber ol' Commerce Tourney. Early in the fall, the Girls of the Roses also presented a special pro- gram for the area Student Council forum and for a Comet game. Among the major trips planned by the Senoritas was the George Washingtori Day Celebration in Eagle Pass. The two- mile parade crossed the bridge into Piedras Negras, Mexico. and returned to Eagle Pass, after which the girls gave a 30- minute program at the rodeo. Listed as another performance was the invitation to present a program in Amarillo, where Dr. Jack Rodgers was presented in a special ceremony. Rut of all the many hours spent in prac- tice for extra appearances, the trip most looked forward to was the one to San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Rosie Ramos, sponsor, received invitations requesting has Senoritas de las Rosas to provide a special program for the HemisFair, and in Corpus, where the organization marched in 11 five-mile parade and were featured in the stadium show at Ruekaneer Days.
