Ggmnasts Place High During Acrobatic Meetings ln the federation meet in Tucson, Arizona, Coach Mike Willson and the Odessa College gymnastic team received national recognitiong the president of the United States Gymnastics Federation commended the Wranglers as having the outstanding team in the meet. Being the lone junior college entered against 30 four-year colleges, three Odessans ranked nationally during the clinic. Manual Hinojos placed fifth in the still rings, Greg Germany won ninth on the parallel bars, and Ronnie Webb ranked twelfth in free exercise. The four-day meeting provided a chance to exhibit the Wranglers' newly-acquired skills plus the opportunity to learn new ones. Hosting the Hrst oliicial match as part of the OC Athletic Department, the Wranglers proved to be tough competition as Eastern New Mexico University narrowly outscored OC, 1192.5 to 115.2 points. With a perfect score being 10 points, Webb won first place in free exercise with a near perfect 9.5 and also in long-horse vaulting with a 9. Co-captain Ger- many took another lirst place in parallel bars with an 8.6 average. Odessa College earned four firsts in the Midland YMCA meet, where they competed against 25 teams. Coach Keith Ahone gained top honors in free exercise, while Hinojos won in rings, Webb in tumbling, and Germany in parallels.
