Second Half Plag Takes Wranglers to Regionals il:5liZdJIg21:rEso36.?9.6'3 freshman, puts up two as the Wranglers easily The Wranglers bounced back during the second half of competi- tion as they lost only to Howard County and Clarendon and gained a chance to participate in the Regional Tournament. Snatching the victory from a determined South Plains College, the Odessans faced a new rubber-covered floor and questionable olhciating to overcome the Plainsmen, 87-85. Trailing 4-7-36 at the half, OC whipped NMJC, 87-83, which gave the Wrangler roundballers a third-place tie with New Mexico. Coming from behind in the second half, the Odessans nipped NMMI, 70-69, to bring conference standings to 7-4. Roger McGlothin led the Odessa scoring with 20 points. The long reign of victory suddenly ended as the Howard County group again defeated OC by a smashing score of 97-82. The Wranglers were never ahead of the Jayhawks and managed to tie them at only 2-all. The Wranglers ripped Frank Phillips in a conference battle by the crushing score of 104--88. But it took lVlcGl0thin's 25 points to push the Odessans into a commanding lead, while N. S. Hurd added 23. Falling to Clarendon College, the Wranglers almost lost -their chance to compete in the Regional Tournament. The away-from-home game did not end as the home one as the Bulldogs held Odessa Col- lege to 66 total points. The final two games were successful victories for McColloch and his team. OC easily defeated LCC by the overpowering score of 96-79, which helped avenge the narrow 85-83 loss Odessa suffered in Lub- bock. McGlothin scored 27 points, while Hurd added 20. ln the Hnalc, Odessa College out-rebounded and out-hustled Amarillo College to gallop to an 86-57 conference basketball victory. Bc-sides being a victory for the team, it was also a honor for Boody who outscored the total of his Howard County competitor and won the conference leading scorer's post. Coach lVIcColloch and the Wranglers ended the 1967-68 season posting a 10-6 standing. bl
