X N. slltwards. Honors. Recognition to Odessa College represented 'Odessa College at the Sun Carnival, New Year's in El Paso. During the summer Natalie will tour Europe and participate by special invitation in the Debutante Holiday's European season, where she will be presented to royalty. Each year District I of the Texas Nursing Student Association chooses a student nurse to represent them at the state convention. Out of a field of three student nurses representing Shannon School of Nursing in San Angelo, Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso, and Odessa College, OC student nurse, Jill Pruitt won the honor. She was recipient of a presentation reception and competed with nurses from throughout Texas for the state title of Student Nurse of the Year. Patsy Rippy, athlete from Odessa College, has car- ried the name of her school across the continent be- cause of her outstanding performance on the tennis courts. Ranked second in the United States in eigh- teen and under singles, and thirteenth in women's singles, she has managed to build an impressive record. She held the singles title at the National Collegiate Tournament and also won two medals, a silver in singles and a gold in doubles at the Pan American Games last summer in Winnepeg, Canada. Patsy was the only American of eight women invited to Guada- lajara, Mexico this fall for competition in the Pre- Olympic Games. She returned to Odessa College with two trophies and a championship in mixed doubles. For her outstanding work on the Globe of the Great Southwest, this plaque, presented to Odessa by the Texas Historical Society, commemorated Majorie Morris. She is shown here at the tea honoring her as First Lady of Odessa. Through the year many people were honored in the various departments. Several indi- viduals associated with Odessa College, both faculty and students, distinguished themselves and brought honor and recognition to their school. These peo- ple have brought city-wide, state-wide, national. and even international acclaim to OC. Mrs. Majoric Morris, English instructor has proved herself to be an asset to the college for many reasons. Because of her efforts in constructing the Globe, Odessa's authentic Shakespearean theatre, her interest in promoting Odessa's future, and her outstanding reknown, an otlicial Texas Historical marker will he erected in Odessa. She was named First Lady of Odessa in 1968, and has received in- vitations from all over the world to study and speak. Mrs. Morris has many honor listings including ln- ternational Biography, Marquis Who's Who, Na- tional Register of Who's Who, International Gold Book of Distinguished Women of the United States, plus Scambi International of Rome, Italy. Natalie Kay Mabry has won many honors and shown herself to he an outstanding student during her two years at OC. In the spring of '67 she per- formed on state-wide television on Campus Talent.
