v s Registration Figures Sei There is a standing joke around most college campuses that if you can get through registration, you can graduate. Those entering OC for the first time found perhaps more truth than humor in that statement. Registration for the fall semester was held on September 7 and 8. The process began in the morning and continued on through nine each night. For most, registration was a series of lines punctuated with con- fusion, tension and closed classes. For the sophomores it became a kind of game where one tried to get through the lines in the shortest possible time using the experiences gained in past semesters, as a quarterback might use a fake or an option play. Fortunately, OC has a Pre-registration system that does help to elim- inate some of the confusion connected with the filling out of countless numbers of IBM cards and the selection of courses. Under this system, students counsel with advisors during the semester to map out plans for the next semester. This makes the registration procedure somewhat less formidable. Enrollment figures for the fall semester reached new highs with the total day and evening figures reaching the 2,800 mark. Enrollment for the Spring semester was handled in one day and night, January 22. The total figures took the traditional drop experienced by all colleges. Nevertheless, enrollment figures did pass the 2.500 mark. 'X There's probably many a student who wishes his bill at the bookstore was only 31.10. but in the case of this student it was only the beginning. It started with the simple process of filling out a packet of many IBM cards. It ended with the simple process of fill- ing out a check. Records Both Term Dean Sid Holden and Mrs. Dolly Harrold counsel a student during the hectic process of registration. zi
