Music Department Jack Hendrix, new chairman of the Odessa College Music Department, directs a staff composed mainly of newly-added professors. The band is now led by Charles Lawson, and Maurice Alfred has charge of the choirs. I. R. Morris gives voice lessons. and Mrs. Ethelston Chap- man instructs theory practice. The music department is renown and provides any music major with a thorough background which will enable him to fit into any music department to which he might transfer. Throughout the year the music students and their di- rectors present concerts and public performances. Both the choir and the band performed in the fall. Individual students are required to present recitals during the course of their studies under Mr. l-lendrix, Mr. Morris and Mrs. Chapman. These recitals enable the student to have goals 'toward which he strives. The Music Department at Odessa College has a staff which strives to enrich its students by expecting and re- ceiving application and self-determination. Biologg Facultg Teaches Plant, Animal Processes Inquiry: How do plants and animals workg what makes them tick? Explanation: Take biologyg that is what the course is all about. The faculty for the Biology Department gained two new- corners, Roger Corzine and Don Huff. Both of these were acquired from Odessa High School. These are in addition to the old-timers , Lavon Ellis, Mildred Bevin. and Willie Filleman, department chairman. Located in the new Biological Science building, teachers spent their first complete year in the new facilities. These include modernized laboratories for the students' use and class- rooms 'for lecture purposes. Biology courses olfer Odessa College students an oppor- tunity to further their knowledge and complete requirements toward their degree plan.
