Home Ee Club Gives Valuable Experiences Conventions, informal parties and regular meetings set the pace for the campus Home Economics Club. The primary objective of the club was to aid each mem- ber in learning to meet family needs and to give a better inerpretation of home economics to the individual. Harriette lVIcClend0n. home economics instructor. spon- sored the group. Gloria Franco served as president aided by Jeanne Tors rence and Shea Lynn Shaw, vice presidents. Sheryl Raglen kept financial records while Linda Hines handled secretarial responsibilities. Verene Ballard as parliamentarian, maintained order during the meetings. Karen Ingram represented the Home Economics Club at ICC and Margaret ,lover reported news to the campus communications media. Recognizes OC aeultg at Teas Conventions, faculty teas. coke rush parties, films, guest speakers kept OC members of the Texas State Edu- cation Assoeiation busy this year. The sole purpose of the elub was to project to the student a professional outlook on the education field. In appreciation of tear-hers the club held several faculty teas serving refreshments to the college instructors and admin- istrators. Conventions furthered the ambitions of TSEA as did informative films and speakers. Alpha Nu Chi Encourages Professional Attitude Alpha Nu Chi is the local organization of the Texas Nursing Students Association which is a constituent of the National Nursing Students As- sociation. It is designed to prepare students for a career in nursing, to acquire skills and to develop leadership qualities and abilities in working in a professional organization. Qualification for mem- bership in the Alpha Nu Chi is simply enrollment in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program. Jean Porterhelcl is the sponsor of the club with Ann Winn, Dana Overman, and Yvonne Vernon as her co-sponsors. Assisting President Jill Pruitt is Vice President Sherry Frankfather, Secretary Verna Turner, and Treasurer Mary Rutledge. The l.C.C. Representative for Alpha Nu Chi is Jo Carol Brown. For a cluh money-raising project, the girls washed cars. President Jill Pruitt fills a hypodermic as part of her nursing training.
