Using Chad Webster as a billboard. Tom Schink tells us what he thinks of Freshmen. Freshmen Take a Nose Dive! During Initiation, October 2, the 9th Graders were officially inducted into the High School. Like every year, the new crop of Freshmen were humiliated, tortured, and degraded. Bobbi Gascon later said, ’Although it was extremely embarrassing, it was the most fun I have had in a while.’ Most of the 9th graders thought the same way. That night we saw a lot of creative costumes for the first time. Dave Smith crowned Miss Alpine 1987. Dressed in a bathing suit with a banner and a tinsel crown, Clay Grover made the perfect bathing beauty. John Senka and Christy Edwards proved that you have to pay attention in Health Class. John was the expectant ’mother’ and Christy performed her duties as an ’obstetrician.’ Michelle Strong and Michelle Reynolds displayed the fact that ’lowly Freshmen stick together’-literally. After being bound all night, they finally fell down and couldn’t get back up. Tim Mundt, surfing to 'Wipe Out’ in a wagon, was pulled around by Bobbi Gascon, the hula dancer. Satisfied, the avenging Seniors at the end of the hour, let the new Freshmen return to their normal selves to enjoy the dance. Rosie Colunio. Shirley Menzi. Lisa Reigns Homecoming ’87 Homecoming 1987 was a smashing success. We’ll never forget the beautiful fall night. The big night was preceded by the traditional parade of floats, the Marching Band which is annually created for the event, the first display of Homecoming candidates, and the big bonfire in back of the school. The night of October 16th finally arrived. The hair spray was flying, the floats were ready, the Color Guard was spiffy, the Marching Band was fine tuned, and the Football team was ready to kick butt. The initial kick-off for the game against Union Springs was an omen for the next hour of play. Our Indians totally dominated the guests who had driven a long ways for a lot of punishment. With this game, our Indians got on a winning streak after a tough season start. Coach Myers proved that he would again be the annual IAC winner. At half-time, Shawn Scott, with tails, directed the Band in a superb concert on the football field. The Color Guard strutted their flags with uncanny precision. After a fanfare, the candidates walked down the 50 yard line with their escorts. Retired teacher and coach, Mr Jack Davis, crowned Lisa Hoover as the 1987 Homecoming Queen. The escorts were G.Lisk, M.Parrott, R.Moshier, M.Parrott, J.Wood. It was a memorable Homecoming that will be remembered by all. 8 HOMECOMING
