Homecoming '86. O-M’ers spend a lot of time and effort getting ready to celebrate the big day. Floats are planned and built days ahead of time. Cheerleaders work and practice hard as usual. The Marching Band is created for this event and spends a lot of time marching on the football field during 5th period. The Flag Team Drill Squad fine tunes its precision skills. The O-M Indians were scheduled to face IAC League powerhouse, Candor. Things start to build up on the night before, Thursday, when the floats parade through Odessa to the football field for the annual bonfire and dough-nut-a-thon. Then, Friday night, the rain fell in epic, Biblical proportions. The floats were destroyed by the rain and the parade was called off, yet the Homecoming candidates stood up to the elements. Then the Candor Indians fought their last stand against the O-M Indians. Our Indians won as expected with a score of 9-0.
