TEAM SPIRIT! Sports are a very important aspect of life at Odessa -Montour High School. Almost everyone of the students are involved in sports in some way or another. The Yearbook staff computed that 45% of the Junior-Senior High School participates in the sports program. Games, meets, and matches create a focal point for the O M community. Students and adults alike come together with a common cause to cheer on our boys and girls. Friday night football games have the biggest attendance and the basketball games create the most excitement as they are played in our cheesebox gym. The class of '89 had the most athletes with 53% on at least one sports team. 24% were on two teams, and 8% were on three teams. The class of '87 came in second with 51% on one team, 22% on two teams, and 5% on three teams. The Senior Class came in third with 49% on one team, 29% on two teams, and 7% on three teams. The class of '90 rates fourth in participation with 47% on three teams, 17% on two teams, and 3% on three teams. Then the class of '88 with 45% on one team, 15% on two teams, and 1% on three teams. Last is the class of '91 with 26% in one sport, 4% on two teams, and none participated in three sports. Only 39% of all the athletes are girls at O-M, but, interestingly enough, 57% of the athletes in the Senior Class are girls!

FOOTBALL When Coach Roger Myers came into camp in August he was looking at his youngest team in years. Only two people with any game experience returned from the previous year: Brad Clark and Mark Decker. Little did the rest of the league know that at the end of the season O-M would end up in the Championship Game at Cornell, and the school's first Sectional game at Chenango Forks. O-M fought to a 7-0 record by beating Lansing, Tioga, and keeping the Bucket from Watkins. In the Championship game, O-M played well despite losing 31-7 to Newark Valley, and a week later they bowed to Delhi 29-0 on a mud ridden field to end up Section IV Class D runner up. Several players made postseason all star teams. All Lakes Region: Skip McCarty, Brad Clark, Mark Decker, Eric Taber, Pat Angle, Lyle Goossen, Mark Clauson, and Ed Bovaird.
