Class Of '88 Gets Theirs It was 8:00 PM, Friday, October 19, 1984. An event long awaited by the Class of '85. one that the Class of '88 was not looking forward to. It was ... Freshman Initiation. The OM cafeteria was quickly filling with Freshman guys who had newly acquired busts, it looked like an ad for Cross-Your-Heart Bras. Freshman girls were most often seen with totally gaudy and tacky clothing. Initiation was funny but very unoriginal. I think there needs to be more input from the Seniors, more imagination, said Senior Craig Smollen. Craig's victim was Mark Sipes who was dressed as a new wave flower child. Other good costumes were worn by Rosie Colunio and Shirley Menzi who, thanks to Erin Dowd and Liz Fowler, ended up as Kermit and Miss Piggy. Wendy Scott, initiated by Kathy Cutton, was a pack of Wrigley's Spearmint Flavored Gum. Kathy said that she got the idea from a college yearbook. Freshman Shelley Hunter enjoyed initiation, It was cool, some people really deserved it, like Amazon (Lisa Pylkas). Senior Nancy Sample wasn't too thrilled with Initiation, It was kinda boring, they don't let you do much anymore. Push pennies and say the pledge is about all you can do to them, I think it should be a whole day event like it used to be. Our school is too strict. Although there were some complaints the Class of '85 did enjoy getting their revenge on the lowly Class of '88. Gary Sawyer poses as the new Maidenform Man, you never know where he'll turn up. Above, Seniors Donna Vary, Liz Fowler (in background), Lisa Stone, Terry Eccleston, Pam Strong, Keith Hoover, Jenny Titus. Kneeling are Freshmen Eric Arnold, Mike Gardner. Brennan Searles. Ann Stone, Lisa Hoover, Allison Barrett, Stephanie Tague, and part of Sheila Burgess. INITIATION 13
