Text from Pages 1 - 128 of the 1979 volume:

‘Dedication This year we would like to dedicate our yearbook to a very special person. Throughout the years, we have all appreciated the humor of this “Wild and Crazy Gal.” Not one class is let by without the battery of remarks so common to all of her classes. (Typing Class), “Eyes on the book, feet flat on the floor, 70% of typing errors are caused by poor posture. (Accounting Class), “Timms your wrong, you know it, so shup up!” “Those debits must equal those credits!” (Business Law Class), “Well brother Kellog, did you finally decide school was in session?” “Question No. 4, Cathy Casper, 1 mean Belinda Caster” “The next question, Norman Underdown’s... son” “How many doctors were standing over your death bed? I’ve been waiting all morning for you to come in and make up that test.” Not to mention all of her names for everyone, like “Brother Lychalk, Sister Stevenson,” all of her “dildocks and dewdrops”. We’d like to thank this women for her true concern for everyone, her devilish humor, and also for the things that she has taught us about the business world and life. That’s why this year’s Class of ’79 is dedicating our year book to our very own “Mother Goodnow”. Here comes the setting sun. the seasons are passing one by one. So gather moments while you may; collect the dreams you dream today, remember ...........Will you remember the times of your life? 0-M A litta Mater The hills and valleys that God created, Are joined in Odessa-Montour. We’re forever thankful, for all its beauties And the greatness of our school. The people are friendly and great, it is really a wonderful place where you feel love and happiness. I would like to say THANK YOU to all the nice people I’ve met during my stay here. I would also like to thank all the teachers for their help, kindness, and consideration. OMCS.........sigue adelante! 19 Jn Memory Of Jennifer Ceigh Jensen Everyone’s friend, a real merrymaker of life, that is what she was to us. It's hard to realize that we’ve lost someone so young and full of life ; One of our own classmates. Just as the wind blows away the dandelion seeds, God moves us on too. The special moments and bursts of laughter that we shared together, will always be dear to us. Most important is the way that we’ve all grown and become better people for having known her. Thank you Jennifer, for touching our lives with your love. 20 Senior Headers We had this taken during the flu epidemic so we all couldn’t make it. Yearbook: Editor Jeff Timms, Betty Ganung, Barb Stevenson, Lynne Sweet. When I first walked through the front doors of my old school I said to myself, come off it Kano (thats what they called me back then) No ones gonna remember you, and even if they do, God knows what their going to say to you. Well 1 know just what I’ll do I answered back I’ll just spend so much time talking about their lives that they won’t think to ask about mine. Immediatly upon entering 1 caught sight of a women in a tight (very tight) cheerleaders sweater. I recognized her instantly and and yelled Buck!” She answered me and held out her arms as if to hug, me, started running towards me and much to my surprise she ran right into the wall, (she had just gotten her new contacts) As 1 surveyed the cafeteria my eyes caught a number of things... I saw; Belinda Caster surrounded by other familiar people showing off her Olympic Gold medals. Robert Covey, showing off another of his inventions (remembering back when his miraculous electric car flopped, it only went twenty feet then the extension cord ran out and it stopped) Margaret Sidle running around trying to sell those blamed insurance policies. Half-heartedly it seemed since it is only a year since her house accidentally burned to the ground. Cindy Dawson working on a mans mouth while he is being entertained by her cute little nose. Penny Wixson standing in the middle of the room all stiff and glossy-eyed. At ten second intervals she moved her eyes from center to left to right and back to center again. I guess however, if I spent 40 hours a week watching a computer do its gymnastics, I’d act like that too. Rich Hayes with a crowd of people around him going over his comedy routine. Last year he was nominated most origonal comic of the year with his great new album “A Crazy and Wild Guy” I wandered over to where the band was playing and 1 pulled up a chair. At first glance 1 didn’t recognize the members but after a few long looks, I was able to identify some alumni amongst them. The bass player was Ben Brown with Jeff Timms playing lead Guitar and Ron Gaylor on the sax. The reason I couldn’t recognize them was because they looked like sick bums. I’d seen these guys on record albums blit 1 couldn’t remember the name. 22 I looked over to my left and I saw two of my old rock and roll buddies, Jesse Mace and Gary Magura. I asked Jesse what the band called themselves and he said “Oh, they call themselves the Regurgitated Vomit.” Suddenly Gary said ”oh know here she comes again.” 1 turned around and I saw Karen Mathers tell the man at the control board something and he turned off the music. Karen walked off, back to her husband, a graduate of Watkins Glen. I looked back at Gary and Jesse who were at this point going into hysterics. Reasonably so since the power for the band was shut off and the band was still playing. 1 guess they must be deaf by now anyway. I ran into George Kellog still in his Air Force uniform trying to act like a man. It kind’a made me chuckle remembering how he wanted to be an electricle engineer until he almost electricuted himself screwing in a lightbulb. There was also Greg Waylands memory running through my mind, and how he died trying to keep his head above water, he was washing his face. A loud burst of laughter caught me ear and amongst another crowd of people was George Wright. He was telling the most absolutely stupidest jokes I’d ever heard. 1 understood why after he told me he was an auditor for the I.R.S. By now I needed a drink but the punch bowl was already occupied. Robby Lychalk’s face was under it all pie eyed and snock-ered. At this point 1 was getting quite fed up with the whole cock-a-maimie ordeal and 1 tried to sneak out without being noticed. Unfortunately, every one was on to me. Every ones eyes were staring at me except Lychalk’s and Buck’s, so I figured I was cooked. “Just where do you think your going?” It was Earle Simpson, editor of his own science fiction magazine. “You ain t leavin without tellin’ us what your doing for a living!” How he ever became an editor talking like that I’ll never know. 1 thought about it for a long toment and decided what harm could it do. I heard murmers of working for National Geographic, Mad, the STAR. Personalizing Teeth Pulling, and even the New York Times, but fhese were all incorrect. I am working quite steadily however, for “Jack n Jill.” BY: Danial Kane 23 Curtis R. Bailey Laurie M. Bannister Robert D. Bailey Charels Barbaro Jay D. Banks Tamara S. Barrigar Linda L. Chef A1 Sweet made superb pasta, and Chef Nick Barra made his usual fantastic meatballs and sauce. The Chorus’ Annual Vaud-ville Show was scheduled the same night as the dinner, which made for a successful profit for both groups. Student Council Adviser, Mrs. Titus, and Student Council President, Carole Bahns headed up the well organized delicious affair! 77 Student Council Front Row: K. Freeman, K. Riley, K. Castor, G. The Senecas returned after a thrilling defeat they suffered up here last year. Remember the “stolen Indian”? The 1977 game was a close one. This year we saw those fantastic juniors molded under the expert leadership of Coach Frank Gavich play great basketball. Our Indians mutilated the WG Senecas.
