In years past, we’ve found ourselves looking up to the one teacher who still has the respect he certainly deserves. His seriousness about the importance of true learning and understanding is obvious, and perhaps it is this that makes one WANT to learn. He truly cares, and is admired for this as well as for his great sense of humor. It is not uncommon to find that he is helping those who need and want extra help, whether it is early in the morning, or after school. After giving a gread deal to us during school, he still finds the time to give to the community in many ways. Without a doubt, he is a natural born teacher and he really knows his subject. Many teachers may be well educated, but what sets him apart with a kind of magic is the way he can get it across so well. No offence to substitutes, but there is not substitute for you, Mr. Dolaa 9 In Memory of Dennis B. O’Neil On the Dunes If there is any life when death is over, these tawny beaches will know much of me, I shall come back, as constant and as changeful as the unchanging, many-colored sea. If life was small, it it has made me scornful, forgive me; I shall straighten like a flame In the great calm of death, and if you want me Stand on the sea-ward dunes and call my name. I had to adapt to a new way of life but it has been easy with your help and your friendship. 1 even had the feeling that Odessa was my own country. 1 want to thank all of you, students and teachers that 1 met, for everything you brought and gave me during my stay in OMCS. 1 really appreciate it. Being an exchange student in such a high school has been a wonderful experience that I’ll never forget. I've really enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun in USA. This year was great! I hope that some of you will have the opportunity once in your life to live a few months in another country. You learn so much and it’s fantastic! hNCORL MhRCl POUR TOUT AMICALEMENT JOELLE JOLLLL BORMANS, BELGIUM JOSt N1TO, BRAZIL It isn’t easy to explain what it is to be an exchange student. Can you understand what it is like to live in a new place where all around you is new and different? It’s exciting! New people, new family, new weather (!!), new customs. It would be impossible to explain the experiences that we get when the exchange program is in a school like Odessa-Montour. The friends, the teachers, all those affiliated with the school, the games, the funny jokes (of course, none of the teachers knew of this!), at least, all the friendship that they gave me, the chance to know a new wonderful way of life. Sincerely, indians. I want all of you to stay as you are-active, because here, or in Brazil, we the young people, with our new idea and high spirit, are the ones who can make our world, day by day, a better place tomorrow. JOSE 44 ATSUKO KAMGI-JAPAN 1 Came from Mexico City in September and I stay here 10 months with Dr. Marshall’s family, in Alpine. I graduate until June with the senior class. When I return to Mexico, I still have three years of school before I go to the University. I’m from city, but I like living in country, where there are no smog. Many things are different here too. Meals are later than in Mexico and in school the teachers change rooms and not students. 1 would like to say I make many good friends in United States and I enjoy my stay. MAGALI About four months have passed since I came here. Really this life is very interesting and happy for me. It is beautiful here in Odessa and Montour. People are so nice and helpful to me. Dr. Norton family are very nice too. I am very glad to come and OMCS students are very open and frank. There is so much freedom in the school and everybody knows each other. In this school, students and teachers look like friends. 1 am very happy. Lastly, I would like to say this 1 DON'T WANT TOGO BACK TO JAPAN! VIVA OMCS ATSUKO MAGALI PELL1CER. MEXICO ALEJANDRO CARPINTEYRO, MEXICO My name is Alejandro Carpinteyro and I’m an exchange student from Mexico (City). This experience is really fantastic and 1 enjoyed my stay in this country. Here I found the best place of the United States where 1 found my best friends and teachers. 1 never will forget this mine experience like exchange student that have me the opportunity to know about another country and another great people. To begin for my new family, Mr. Mrs. W. Timms and Jennifer, Jeff, BOB. and Jeanne, my new brothers and sisters.
