She has patiently worked with her students, helping them learn the English language and hoping to stimulate their minds. It is important to her that she knows her students, too. Therefore her work at our school has been more than basic English. She has strived to help her students become good school citizens. Also, in trying to know her students, she has participated in the good times at Odessa (remember her wild dancing at our dances?) This little lady has become part of Odessa and will be missed by all. Therefore, we dedicate this book with feelings of gratitude to you, Mrs. Covert. I 9 Faculty I shall be glad if sometime in the future Some heartened on shall come to me and say: “The little song you sang when I was weary Showed me a better and clearer way.” I shall rejoice and thrill through all my being If somewhere, sometime, in the days to be I shall find one eager heart to tell me The song I sang gave him new eyes to sec. Cb- _A rxXJ- _X CO-' S , 107 During the high school years we all discover so much, it is hard to put a finger on the one thing to remember forever. But after the memories of the plays, games, and good times have faded one reminiscence remains: a friend. A friend you could say anything to, a friend you talked and occasionally argued with. In this yearbook we hope you can find, in future years, that one important memory: your friend. We never would have been able to finish this yearbook if we hadn’t had a loyal staff who co-operated and gave their time willingly to help us. Especially the editors Candy Bailey, Barbara Fudala. Pam Travis, Kathy Hrynko, and most of all Mr. James Scaptura who helped us through all the little crises. YOU ARE A CHILD ... for the rest of your life there will always be a child; hiding in some secret part of your heart, the part of a child that thrills at parades and balloons ... OF THE UNIVERSE .. . you belong here, you must stay here for there is no where else to go ... NO LESS THAN THE TREES AND STARS ... you are equal, respect yourself and others will respect you ... YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE ... let no one lake this right from you. This year has meant a lot to us. The most important thing any group of people in a school can leave behind is something lasting. A yearbook is something which, for years to come, will be a reminder of the people who came to OMCS during the years 1971-72. We feel very lucky to have been chosen to be editors. It is our lasting contribution to the memories we will all have of this school. We’re very proud of this yearbook and our staff. We hope you will have happy memories, bright futures, and a peaceful world. jS Z c-Wk vr -5 Co-editors $ ntor col lo | l 1 to protiH
