'QowL oh EdmUoft TO THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1968 On behalf of the Board of Education, 1 can say they are truthfully pleased that they have been able to be at least a small part in helping to shape your education through high school. We feel sure that when you go out in the world, the 1968 Class as a whole will accomplish things that their high school alma mater, OMCS, will be proud of. You are graduating from one of the best high schools in New York State; and you need never be ashamed to proclaim this truth. What you do with your future is pretty much up to you and only you. You now have the basic training to go on to great accomplishments in this world of opportunity. You have had the benefit of being born in the greatest nation on the face of the earth; but YOU must furnish the get up and go to take advantage of the world of opportunities that surround you. As the future beckons, you have available the knowledges of today and of the past to guide you as you make your way forward. The phones are ringing, students are pleading for passes, the teachers have lost books. These problems are handled daily by four ladies, our secretaries-the backbone of OMCS. Mrs. States: Pro at this type of work. Mrs. Wood: Always willing to help. Mrs. Lewis: Holds the school up with her guidance. Mrs. Letteer: Working forever.

CURTIS STEPHEN Elementary School Principal TO THE CLASS OF 1968 It is a welcome privilege and a very pleasure for me to extend my personal congratulations to the graduating class of 1968. I appreciate having the opportunity of doing so in your year-book, a publication I trust you will keep and refer to often in the years ahead. I particularly invite you to read—and from time to time to re-read— the following quotation from Robert L. Stevenson: “The problem of education is two-fold:—first to know and then to utter. Everyone who lives any semblance of an inner life thinks more nobly and profoundly than he speaks.” As you continue your pursuit of knowledge throughout life, consider the importance of further developing your ability to speak, to read, and to write. In this era of mass media-of the press, the radio, television, Telstar, and ever new methods of communication—success is for those who express themselves well. MR.
