The next game was belueved to be one un whuch the Trojans would really have to swow theur stuff A year ago Odebolt beat Ogden by a pass un the last seconds of play and un a heavy raun Thus season ut wasn t that hard but ut was the toughest game to date ln the second quarter the Trojans eploded three quuck touchdowns and went on to score twree more before tne game ended Leecls was next on t e schedule Thus was one of tne most talked about games un t'ue communuty Could Odebolt beat the Lan cers from Leeds who had gone l4 games wutnout a defeat? The Trojans great passung team scored a touchdown early un the game The extra pount was made good by Pat Sor jans suffered defeat un the second quarter when Bull Teaquust was taken out of the game wuth a broken leg In tne second half Dale Ruchardson suffered a shoulder unjury And so ut was the Lancers proved too much for the Trojans who fell un defeat but not dusgracefully Before the next game whuch was wuth Manulla Vern Ogden sluppery half back came down wutn pneumonua and Lowell Brow er startung end receuved an unjury un prac tuce The game at Manulla was a sad story for the Trojans Wuth four furst strung men out of the Iune up Odebolt went unto the game before a fured up Homecomung crowd to come out wuth the second loss of the sea son and more battered up than before Ma nulla took that game 39 O The next week was to be Odebolts l-lomecomung when they would play theur ru vals from Sac Cnty Thus would be massacre no doubt Another week of practuce found t em on the fueld wuth Janet Ogden Home cornung queen crowned before the game be gan lnspured playung caused an upset and wwat an upset' The Trojans showed to tne huge crowd spark never before seen un them Vfuth tie lune goung through to open up holes and the backfueld men fundung the holes Ode bolt was un the game all the way Score l9 I9 lt was a very satusfyung and successful l-lomecomung game The next two games turned out to be a rest for t e Trojans Odebolt swamped Wall Lake 40 O and took the Maple Valley Con them a record of 5 wuns 2 losses and l tue Several days after the close of the season the team met un the locker room wuth Coach McLaughlun to choose two senuor boys as Cap tauns of the Sl Trojans Jerry Reynolds vet eran tackle and John Rex numble quarter back were elected unanumously The annual football banquet was held Dec 3 un the dunung room of the Methodust Church Coach Gaer of Drake was the prun cu9al speaker Gufts were presented by tne boys to Coach McLaughlun and also to Wally Hamann who had done a good job all season un scoutung games played by our adversarues before we met them Wuth the presentatuon of awards and a fulm of the Drake football team un actuon the Trojans and the coaches called ut a season but ut us a season that wull not be easuly forgotten PAGE THIRTY FIVE , . . . . . . . , ll .
