make up for the past Indian defeats, but could do no better than a 20 to 6 win. This was Sac City's Homecoming game and the Indians jumped to a 13 to 0 halftime lead. However, Gdebolt came back in the last half and played their county rivals on even terms. The last home game of the season for the local eleven was played in the rain and mud against a mediocre Wall 'Lake eleven. The Trojans captured this one by a 27 to O margin. The contest with Ida Grove was also played in rain and mud. Ida Grove held a 13 to 0 lead in the first half but the Trojans marched through them in the third quarter to tie up the game. With three minutes to go, Ida 'Grove crossed the goal line to hand the Trojans their fourth defeat of the season 19 to 13. Not too much had been expected of this year's eleven as nine of last year's starters had been lost through graduation. The line on the '48 Trojan team was made up entirely of inexperienced players and only Bob Hansen and George Hummel had had regular backfield experience. Dick Morr, Doug Boerner and Howard Hoef- ling, along with Hansen and Hummel, gave the Trojans a potent and speedy backfield. Morr and Hansen were the halfbacks, Hummel was the full- back, while Hoefling and Boerner shared the quar- terbacking job. On the line, Duane Breon and Tom Bengford were the ends, Duane Einspahr and Don Dreesen were the starting tackles, Jim Hess and Bob Moffitt held down the guard posts, and Jim Barkley was the center.
