Some of the activities were National FFA Convention in KC. Sweetheart Dance. National FFA Week, and many others. The high- light of the year was Mark Raasch's success in Public Speaking He took his FFA Speech to the State Compe- tition in Des Moines. 13 14 This was the third year for the Multi-Occu- pations Cooperative Education Program (M.O.C.) at Odebolt-Arthur. The program included both classroom instruction and on-the-job work experience. Mr. Olson, Guidance Counselor, was the coordinator and taught the classroom portion. Four employers were training stations for each of the students, all seniors. The students also earned credit toward high school graduation. The students attended two leadership conferences in Des Moines, sold candy bars to help defray expenses, and hosted an Employer-Appreciation Dinner at the Venture Inn. It was another successful year for the program. SENIORS Gina Olson Simof Rick Rbeder Ryan Wil 1 B?th JMS ' c Andres Pintos Mary Kotz. I look forward to these athletes next year at OAMS to form a tough and good eighth grade unit. In the eighth grade the team had seven players and two managers. In addition, two young men contributed their talents and efforts as managers. This year's team compiled a 3-2 record. The Trojans notched up victo- ries over Sac City (10-0), Lake View-Auburn (12-0), and Wall Lake (24-6). The Trojans fell to Galva-Hol- stein (28-0) and Ida Grove (36-6). 81 OAMS WRESTLING ■ 00 OAMS GIRLS BASKETBALL The OAMS Trojans were made up of 11 eighth graders and 8 seventh graders. The seventh grade worked hard, and you could see improvement at the end of their season as they boasted a 5-0 record. The eighth graders were very enthusiastic, dedicated, and excellent sportsman in a tough hard fought season. Twenty-one young Tro- janettes reported to track and competed in five track meets this spring. The young Nettes finished 2nd at Galva-Holstein. 4th at Sac. 3rd at Odebolt. 4th at Wall Lake and 5th at the Conference Meet The Nettes set two re- cords: J.Pudenz(8th) in the 200 Meter Hurdles in a time of 30.62. and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay of M Cranston(8th). J.Pudenz(8th). L Arbe- gast(7th). and S.Rein- hart(7th) in a time of 42.38 The young Nettes did extremely well at all their meets and competed in an agressive manner. The coach wishes the best of luck next year in the high school and looks enthusiastically toward next year’s track season with a good bunch of seventh graders return- ing. 85 Twelve eighth graders and nine sev- enth graders filled the OAMS track roster this year. The Trojans compet- ed in only five meets this year, as two were rained out The Trojans placed fourth at the Sac City Invitational, third at the Odebolt-Arthur Meet, and fourth at the Maple Valley Conference Meet The Trojans came up with the right combination to win the Wall Lake Meet Byne Pudenz Bobby Upton SPECIAL EVENTS 90 I the HomecortlmgPre-game: L Snyder, lensen, D Thevenot. The spring play that was once produced only by members of the junior class was changed to an all school production. For the first joint effort. The Miracle Work- er was chosen. It included members from every class plus one third grader and one dog! With the help of much advance publicity and the power of a well-known play, the production was successful financially as well as artistically. This year's play. The Miracle Worker, created special memories for all of us. 97 98 The 1986 Prom was a suc- cessful event. The banquet was held on April 26th at Spring Lake Country Club and the dance took place at the high school. The theme was “One More Night” and the colors were royal blue and sil- ver. “Music To Go” with Ken Murray provided entertain- ment at the dance. Following the dance, activities took place in Ida Grove at the King Theatre and the Skate Palace.
