Head for clear thinking Heart for greater loyalty Hands for greater service Health for better living OGINA CLUB ACTIVITIES 1948 49 Ocina 4 H Club Was organized on January 5, 1948 with the selection of the following officers George Tatyrek, president Neil Quattlebaum, vice president, and Norma McMurtry, secretary Mr Earl Hager and Mrs W C Qnattlebaum were selected as spon sore Thirteen girls participated in the Dress Revue held in Hangum in April twelve of them winning blue ribbons and one a red ribbon The Club officers attended the Federation Meeting where Norma McMurtry received a S50 OO award on her 4-H Club record book.Bhe was presented a medal for dress revue participation, also one for Eighty one members of our club took part in the Greer County Fair in September of 1948 bringing home 127 ribbons for their efforts and prize money totaling C106 64 Larry Ellison exhibited the champion hog and Elbert Lee Patton, Jr exhibited champion chickens Our booth at the County Fair, for the fifth consecutive year, was rated first by the judges and for this honor we received a S10 00 award Norma Mclurtry and George Tatyrek won the Judging contests at fair and for this accomplishment were given trips to the State Fair at Oklahoma City Here George took first in cotton judging for which he received a wonderful prize in the form of a free trip to the American Royal Livestock Show at Kansas City In September Jimmie Grace Hatter and Norma Hclurtry repre sented Greer County at the Enid Dairy Show Jimmie Grace entered the queen contest and Norma the individual demonstration contest On December 3, 1948 the Ocina 4 H Club was reorganized with the election of Wayne Smith, president, Elbert Lee Patton, vice president, and Norma McMurtry, secretary, and the selection of Mrs Hassle Taylor and Nr Earl Hager as sponsors The club new has seventy active and enthusiastic members each and every one determined to keep up Oc1na's 'winning ways Z9 her work in food preparation, I.-
