N I O The Junior Class of l9h8 L9 is one of the most outstanding classes in highschool, characterized by vitality and versatility, we are represented in all school activities In the process of organizing, we elected for our class officers, Helen Joy Adair, president, Norma Mcwurtry, vice president, Mary Jo Connelly, secretary Patti Dodson was chosen sponsor Followlng Miss Dodson's resignation, Janice Anchelle sponsored us for six weeks, then we became proteges of Mrs Retha Gray Our class, under the directlon of Mrs Gray, presented the first junior play, Ocina has had for several years, WJust Ducky', the story of two teen age girls and their adventures The junior class consists of eight boys and six girls Helen Joy Adair is that petite blues singer of our class I don't know why Helen prefers a blues song to any other kind Carrie Lou Baca well deserved the honor she received last year of 'The All Around Girl Carrie is active in all school activities She really gets around O K He were disappointed because Mary Jo Connelly wasn't elected noney to elect their queen At least, that is the only reason we could think of W C Davis? Well he is always ready with a smile Dub made a swell short stop on our baseball team He was our basketball captain, too And did he shine, especially when he got to crown the queen Mr Lewis, the only reason your baseball team lost a game was because Jerrol Harmon broke his leg so early in the season If it hadn't been for that streak of hard luck you would probably have won every gamelnot that you lost many anywayl The baseball team just couldn't have done without Jerrol even if he wasn't able to play And Gene Harris Say, what that six footer couldn't do under a basketball goal We know now why he didn't go out for baseball, he stored up all his energy for basketball and A H Club Not to mention the A+ in bookkeeping Bill Henderson was the third Bill to Join our class He mov ed here during the last six weeks of the first semesten therefore he didn't take part in any sports, But we know you would have been good, Bill 16 J U R S O .H basketball queen. Monroe Hahn the boy who likes skatlng, almost belongs to the senior class but we are proud to name him on our roster L G Kelsey's name is next L G 's the boy with the musical talent With him and his guitar along, there's bound to be music And speaking of music there's Kathryn Kopecek We have never seen a girl learn to play so qulckly as Kathryn That baby grand piano Santa Claus brought her could have had somethlng to do with that Say, that Norma McMurtry is our top A H Club girl Yep, she is the one that takes the honors Those grades she has on her report card call for quite a few honors Next is 'Myne Smith He is our L H president The way he moves around on the basketball court, we'll never know how Mr Hagar did without him Je thlnk he is a good catcher on a base ball team Believe me it takes nerve to catch a ball when Billy Don is pitchlng It's kinda confusing having two Bill Thomases in our class Now there is Billy Don, he is our baseball pitcher If you want a strike out call on Bill He is a good man to call on if you need two points in a basketball game, too Bill 18 sorta' buggy trol The next Bill Thomas is Billy Ray He is another one of base ball catchers He not only can catch the ball but he can h1t it He made quite a few home runs last season The only reason we put Eva Lou Jootton's name last 13 because her name starts with a I and comes towards the last of the ABC's Well, that's the Juniors of l9L8 A9 Here is a little thought we would like to leave behlnd Ocina teachers lend an ear we'll be with you one more year, But as we pass we'll give three cheers To you who've helped us choose careers Here's to our sponsor, Mrs Gray, mo gave us parties and coached our pla She has a smlle and a laugh so gay M thlnk she's 'Just Ducky in every way 17 in A-H Club though fmeaning by that, he is enrolled in insect con- - D T .
