BOARD OF EDUCATION Donald Jackson Doris Siskin DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION Thomas Marcello Ed.D Superintendent of Schools Iro Sarison Ed.D Assistant Superintendent of Schools Herb Brown Assistant Superintendent of Schools Gerald Jonos Director of Practical Arts Bernard Kaufman Director of Music and Art Richard Vercruysse Director of Physical Education and Health 23 Services PRINCIPAL To the Class of 1987: Teacher: First student: Teacher: Second student: T eacher: Third student: Teacher: First student: Teacher: Third student: Teacher: Second student: Teacher: Why do you go to school? To get an education. What is an education? Having all the answers. Do educated people have all the answers? Sure, they do. Am I educated? Sure. Do I have all the answers? I don't know. You're always asking us questions. So I'm grown up and educated but I ask questions. And you're kids and you give answers, right? You mean, the more educated we become, the more we ask questions instead of give answers? Is that it? What do you think? (Quoted from Philosophical Inquiry' 1980, p. 9kf) by Lipman, et al As you began formal education in 197k, you started a long, arduous process. You have jumped hurdle after hurdle, completed task after task. As a member of Oceanside High School's outstanding Class of 1987, you have mastered much and accomplished many achievements that have brought honor to yourself, your parents and your school. It is my hope that we have taught you to question and to realize the finite limit to your knowledge. If you know this, you are prepared for all the future hurdles. May your future be one of health and happiness. S incerely, Richard M Kraemer Principal 24 ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL DIRECTOR OF PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES 25 SOCIAL STUDIES R. Sullivan Chairperson M.
