Vandermosten OCEANSIDE BOARD OF EDUCATION The Oceanside Board of Education is the elected legislature and policy-making body of the Union Free School District No. 11, Town of Hempstead, County of Nassau, a subdivision of the State government. It derives its authority from and is subject to the control of: 1. The state constitution 2. Legislative enactments 3. The state Board of Regents and the Commis- sioner of Education 4. Decisions of the courts 5. School district voters Members of the Board receive no salary or financial compensation for their services. They pay school taxes at the regular rate. One member is elected each year to serve a- five-year term.
