FROSH SOCCER TEA M-Front Row: Rick Cherinok, Monte Gouzalez, Joe Stabile, Tom Dundas, Adam Molina, Fernando Redriyuez, Pat Sangimino. Middle Row: Jim Reed, Dan Cole, Bob Venturini, Rich Carney, Pete Llorente, Phil Raynal, Gene Hall. Not Pictured: Mike Richmond, Ruben Jacques The 1977 Junior Varsity Soccer Team was a pleasant surprise . Competing against teams which were comprised mostly of juniors, the young Sharks were able to hold their own. Led by All- Leaguers Carlos Diaz and Ron Haas, the J .V.'s finished a very respectable third place in a very tough league . The Oceana Frosh Soccer Team was the only high school team in the frosh league. Competing against the frosh from the South City schools, Oceana was able to finish with a 5-2 seasonal record. The frosh displayed, throughout the sea- son, the desire and willingness to work toward building a championship team, with only two 1-0 losses keeping them from an undefeated season . ccaufifeaffo

Led by most valuable players Randy Vanvaerenbergh and Mike Sangimino, the inexperienced Sharks re- ceived their rewards not in the won-lost column but in the knowledge that they played every min ute of every game with the discipline and desire of an undefeated team.
