With three returning f j starters, the Seahawks will figure pro- ' i minently in the Sunset League race as - well as the GIF playoffs. Leading the way is four year starting point guard Dana Douty. Another outstanding player is Trina Vlachos. Both Trina and Deina have been acknowledged as being two of the top twenty players in Orange County. Teri Zanelli with great lateral movement, spearheads our full court press. Probably the most improved starter this year is Shelley Straight. She has become a force at both ends of the court. Dalene Lawson : will certainly catch some eyes with her k tenacious defense and powerful moves to the bucket, super subs. Julie Hounsell has ability and height to play both wing and post. Cynthina Hurzeler is a fine all around athlete who thrives on competi- tion. Christa Lawson, an adept ball handler can fill in admirably at wing or j point. Super Soph., Gretchen Bock. Pro- bably the finest athlete on the team. With such quick feet we look forward to a pro- ductive future. 122 Varsity

FRESHMEN GOLD L to R: Cordell Miles, Jose Ramirez, Ed Saffer, David Keller, Mike Karpel, Tony Marshall, Mike Hoffman, Val Eisleben, Roger Takacs, Scott Dart, Tony Alcala, Paul Kirby, James Newell, Jahe Witherspoon, Aaron Griths, Dominique Saati, Yong Lewis, Scott Aubin, Matt Hatfield, Coach Adnams. 1985 86 Freshman Gold This years Freshmein Gold team was a very rewarding season. Not on- ly did they have a fine record of 13 wins and 8 losses, they showed great promise for the future. They excelled in the se- cond half of the season by winning 10 of their last 13 games. They all played well as a team unit and showed they could all come together during the close games. The team was led by the strong inside play of Ed Saffer and Roger Taokas and also by James Newel who showed good shooting and passing abili- ty. Yong Lewis, Omar Thomas, and David Keller were strong defensive players. The team tdways showed great enthusiasm and with continued hard work they can only get better. Rarely does the team have fourteen players who will all see playing time. Rarely does a J.V. team go 14-3 and win the Sunset League. Rare indeed is our Junior Varsity Team. Coach Kim Harris hopes to repeat the 84-85 season. Return- ing J.V. players are; Nadine Pickens, Gina Bowers, and Dianna McKissick. Up from last years Frosh-Soph team are sophomores Kimber Craig, Lisa Smith, Teryn Deal, Hallie Murphy, Erika Whistler, Koreen Crain, Jenny Albright, Timre Wilson, Audra Caldin, and Linda Simek. The lone freshman this year is Erin Lunder. Varsity 123
