Denise Violette and Jeff Zitco Are Crowned New Queen and King his year OV's traditional Valentine's Dance was held at the Costa Mesa Country Club and entertainment was provided by a professional disc jockey. The semi- formal event entitled, A touch of Romance began at 8:00 and ended shortly after 12:00 p.m. Saturday February 11, 1984. Despite the size of the adjoining banquet rooms at the club, only about seventy couples showed up with their sweethearts for this even- ing of romance. The couples that were there, were handsomely dress- PAGE 72 ed in all sorts of evening attire, rang- ing from the most simple dress to a formal affair suited for a Prom. These happy couples danced the night away until that shining moment came when the King and Queen were announced! The tension mounted as the finalists gathered on the floor, and finally the crowning of OV's 1984 King and Queen of the VaIentine's Dance, Jeff Zitco and Denise Violette. The couplerstarted off the dance to Up Where we Belong un- til the rest of the onlookers joined in! 1. Richard Smith, Lee Ann Herdman, Lois Tanner, Tim Ramirez, Kris Kierce and Bruce Knowel enjoy ' the dance. 2. Tony Panzica, jDatesj Dana Steer and Rick Lackey, Dave Dresnick and Stan Olsiewski dance with each other to Scotty McKay's popular beat. 3. Seniors, Kim Roberts, Stacey Zwart, Roy Asuega, and Rick Lackey take advantage of their break. PAGE 73 1. Couples share special memories. 2. OVHS Faculty Shines in All Star Game he 5th annual Celebrity Basketball Game brought in over 200 people for the event, as famous celebrities and the Ocean View faculty faced off in a very rough game. Coach Jim Harris scored 24 points and Coach Roger Holmes was in- credible, as nothing seemed to stop him scoring 32 points. The faculty players consisted of Steve Smith, John'Myers, John Webb, Jim Harris, Steve Colflesh, Roger Holmes, Jeff Harshaw, Mike Da Deppo, Greg Sprivill, and Rich Kerk. Coaches 1. Christopher, Peter Brady, Knight takes time out to glve OVHS what he's got. 2. Leading scorer Roger Holmes pours in 32 for the faculty. 3. Rick Klrk, Ernest Harden, Steve Colllesh, and Tim Culbertson line up for the free throw. 74 Celebrity Basketball were Butch Fredlow, Craig Adams, Todd Dixon and John Sharke. The celebrities were fantastic but couldn't make up the 9 point dif- ference. The highest scorer was Adam Mills, scoring 27 points. The celebrity players were: Gary Hutson, Tim Culbeetson, Earnest Hardin, Chris Knight, Adam Mills, Aron Young, David Wallace, coached by Dave Marrish. This year's game was fun for all, the stars and faculty put on an all- star night. N
