6. C he FHA was cooking up a storm this year. They went to Dis- trict and State Convention, gave Christmas parties for Ocean Springs Nursing Home and Cr- phanages and held a bake sale from which they gave a large por- tion of their profit to the March of Dimes. They also held a pizza par- ty. The purpose behind the FHA is to help youth assume their roles in society through home economics education in areas of personal growth, family life, vocational preparation and community in- volvement. The sponsor of the FHA is Mrs. Kouns, a home economics teacher. The president of the club this year was Laurie Parker, Vice-president was Kristie Reynolds and Gidget Terry. eta may be the second letter of the Greek alphabet but O.S.H.S. Beta Club is second to none. The Beta Club works hard, but they had a lot of fun doing it. In between doing many communi- ty services and fundraising pro- jects, Betas had to keep their eighty-eight and above average. The Beta Club sponsored the an- nual Talent Show, which gave many students a chance to strut their stuff on stage. Whitewashing the seawall, an annual community service, was another project the Beta Club did. Betas also sold refreshments dur- ing the games and sold doughnuts to raise money for the annual con- vention. Coach Denver sponsnred the Hub. Presi dent was Eric Lippman.
