Beta Club is second to none. The Beta Club works hard, but they had a lot of fun doing it. In between doing many communi- ty services and fundraising pro- jects, Betas had to keep their eighty-eight and above average. The Beta Club sponsored the an- nual Talent Show, which gave many students a chance to strut their stuff on stage. Whitewashing the seawall, an annual community service, was another project the Beta Club did. Betas also sold refreshments dur- ing the games and sold doughnuts to raise money for the annual con- vention. Coach Denver sponsnred the Hub. Presi dent was Eric Lippman. 6. C he FHA was cooking up a storm this year. They went to Dis- trict and State Convention, gave Christmas parties for Ocean Springs Nursing Home and Cr- phanages and held a bake sale from which they gave a large por- tion of their profit to the March of Dimes. They also held a pizza par- ty. The purpose behind the FHA is to help youth assume their roles in society through home economics education in areas of personal growth, family life, vocational preparation and community in- volvement. The sponsor of the FHA is Mrs. Kouns, a home economics teacher. The president of the club this year was Laurie Parker, Vice-president was Kristie Reynolds and Gidget Terry. Homecoming week was filled with excitement as students participated in spirit week to show their spirit and sup- port to the football team. Al; though the team suffered a defeat by Moss Point, the true meaning of homecoming shone through as the Ocean Springs crowd cheered the Greyhounds on and gave them support until the last second had disappeared off the clock. Pre-game festivities highlighted the evening as the 1983-84 Home- coming Queen Libby McMurtray was presented along with her court. When asked what her feel- ings were that night, Libby re- plied, 81 felt as if I was on top of the world and it was something I will never forget. The 1988-84 Annual staff com- pleted this years annual despite a few setbacks; late deadlines, miss- ing pictures, and complete confue sion every day. Good did come out of all the bad though. Not only did the staff bring the budget out of debt for the first time in years but also took on a new sponsor, Mrs. Brenda Jordan. She played a tre- mendous part in the success of the book. Even when she had no idea of what was going on7 she always looked like she did! Seriously though, we all knew we couldnt have gotten through the year without her. There are many more thank youls that need to be said. To ML Larry Hollis, our representative, thanks for answering all the questions; to Sherria Frazier, thanks for being a terrific business manager; to Ala- bama, thanks for giving us a few minutes of your time; to Mrs. Grimm, thanks for helping us out when we needed answers quickly; to Mr. Hubbard, Mr. Lee, and ML Walker, thanks for putting up with us all; also to all the teachers who let us work when we needed to; last but not least, thanks to the entire annual staff who without all their hard work we wouldnt be reading this. 50043:: Emma WiaMallard CloSing 199 200 0 ,r 57? 3 1683-84 Seniors agGoing In Style m Students who have spent time at O.S.H.S. realized that their years in high school were only a small part of their lives, but played a very important role in deciding on their goals for the future.
