Freshman lnltlatlon The Freshman Class of 1951 52 had to go through these bormg days 1n1t1at1on planned by the Sophomores We had to dress hke uncivllized people for three days 1n the flrst week of school The flrst day, we saw a blonde walk across the room Who could xt be but Blondxel Following her was her famous husband, Dagwood Then most naturally came the boss, Mr D1thers, the two llttle Bumsteads CO0k1e and Alexander and last but not least the two dogs Elms r and Daxsy Blondie was played by James Woodrow Dagwood by Ronald Alfsted, John Geston was Cookle, Graham and Ronme Sxlberg were the two dogs Elmer and Dalsy The second day Custer agam made hls last stand This time, we were dressed as Indians wxth blankets, painted faces, bare feet, and accessories Don't think we got by wlthout wearing a slgn I rn a Green Freshman The third and final day, Dad's union suit, Mother s pots and pans, scrub blng utensils and garden vegetables were put to use We are very thankful to the Sophomores for the fearful Imtiation Party We had to do many stunts and go through a room of horrors Now we are no longer Green Freshmens' but share equal rlghts' as a high school student Marlys Ann Knutson Ronald Alfstad 28 hr' I I I - ' of . . . Banquet and Prom The Junlor Senior banquet was held at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon, April 28, 1951 The theme was Pirates Invitations were sent to the members of the faculty and their husbands and wives, Reverend and Mrs Jones, Reverend Gustafson, Mr and Mrs Oral Bierl and the Seniors of 1951, who were Carol Rosenberg, Marliss Luttschwager, and Ru sel Bleri The menu consisted of tomato juice, potatoes sweet potatoes, peas, ham, pickles, buns, jello salad, strawberry shortcakes, coffee and water During the banquet, we had the following program Welcome to the Seniors Dagger Dan fC'llI'tlS Thompsonj Blessing Rev Jones Solo Donna Graham Pirates We Sal te You' Patcheye Dick COrvil1e Comptonj Plano Solo Sonja Schmid ' Isle of Treasure Peg Leg Charlotte QCaro1 Rosenbergj Able Seafarers Black Beard KMr Loguej Treasure 8: Mut y Long John Silver CRusse1 Bierlj Junior Quartet Orville, Don, Pat and Donna Ebbtide Sonja Schmld alk Lyle Barko Group Singing Auld Lang Syne Benediction Rev Jones After the banquet, the prom was held at the school gymnasium where Martin Schwab and his orchestra played amidst a pirate setting of a starry sky and hanging streamers Open house was held from 9 P M to 10 P M Many of the parents and friends were on hand to watch the grand march and see the beautiful formals and corsages Refreshments consisting of mints and punch, were served by Evelyn Fossen and Eloise Treon Everyone enjoyed going to the prom and hope to have another this year 30 . . s . 3 , !
