' HOME EC CLUB THE HOME EC CLUB launched its year with Mary jane Hurst as president, Betty Yasher, vice- presidentg and Betty Heilman, secretary-treasurer and news reporter. Two meetings, one social and one business, were held each month. The tradi- tional candlelight initiation welcomed approxi- mately fifteen new members. The club prepared and served the G. A. A. hockey and basketball banquets. The girls also planned the refreshments for the party held after the Red and Blue basketball game. Social activ- ities included a Valentine party at the Childrens Home for club members, the March fifth sock dance, and the annual Mother-Daughter banquet. The senior girls were bemoaning the fact that all the improvements-new dishes, silverware, two Singer sewing machines, stove and refrigera- tor-came the year they are to graduate. Every- one agreed, however, that it is fun to learn to cook, sew, and can with such modern equipment. i321 HIGH LIGHT With Edwin as editor And Shirley's help, too, The O-High Lights staff brings All The news through. -D. Raw eggs, oatmeal, and the traditional blue pills: leg-make-up, hairdos, and lip-sticked legs- each played part in the Fine Arts informal initia- tion. The formal initiation was a welcome and beautiful change. Our advisers this year were Miss Schramm, Mrs. Lyons, and Miss Grills. Bake sales earned money for the week-end at the lake. The Sadie Hawkins Day dance, the Christmas formal, and memorable programs- such as Arthur Dann's piano performance, Mrs. Seamans talk on emotional stability, the Christ- mas meeting with Mrs. Wtirner as a welcome guest, and the Mother-Daughter meeting-made the year a memorable one. l55l Qi? Music.. . Mr. Weldtmn trained, this year, an excellent marching band which entertained in half-time programs at football games, Later. as a concert band, the members turned from light favorites to classical numbers, while the basketball season brought musical fun from the German band, The orchestra worked on selections from Beethoven, Handel, and many others. Co-ordinating the vocal groups of the high school, Mr. Weldcmn presented a line Christmas program. Especially moving was the rendition of Cantique de Noel by Christine Reynolds and Fred Russell. In the second semester, a music appreciation class and preparation for spring concerts and con- tests kept the musicians busy. Are guided by Weldon's Musical hand. i 1- A If ' P ' V f ' AF 5 , as 'Qif Orchestra, glee clubs, , 'Gia U ? Chorus and band as D. B. QS? We'll probably be just as nervous tomorrow night. I'm too tired to write more, but it really was tops. LONG-AWAITED-DAYS: The landslide of final activities begins. Banquets, honors' assembly, the Fine Arts week-end, and the senior breakfast. And then . . . graduation, with its Pomp and Circum- imnce. l'm beginning to realize the finality of the ceremony.
