WO OTHER acttvtty groups almost as ltter ary as the ltbrary asststants are the O Hzgb lzgbtr staff and the 0 High annual staff For several years durtng the war the O Hzgb Ltgblt has had a sectton tn the Neua Tnbune tn stead of has tng a regular paper of tts own The col umns tn the local newspaper mem mtd scrambles V Q CCD to get the news tn on ttme to make the Thursday edttton Last October after several ye trs ts tdvtser Mr Muntz left Oberltn and the newspaper Thus the weekly meettng tn Mr Muntz s apartment came to an end Left wtthout an advtser the staff was tn a quandary but Mtss Grundman step ned tn and very capably took over the sttuatton Bob Baxter was elected edttor and the staff got back tnto swtng agatn Under the gutdance of thetr new supervt sor and the new edttor the 0 Hzgb Lzgbtt people have been wrtttng a swell column If you wtll glance at the ptcture of the Annual staff on page 33 you wtll dectde that almost the enttre sentor class ts present tn the ptcture Indeed more than thtrty sentors have had a hand tn mak tng thts book They can tell anyone who asks that they never had dreamed of the amount of labor that Mtss Hammond and her staff have always put tnto our year books We ve worked many an eventng not to mentton some Saturdays and Sundays and we have met our deadltnes Everyone has cooperated We have learned a lot and weve had a grand ttme dotng tt Bl:RL1Nl HIGH has tts share of sweet mustc Have you ever ltstened to the Gtrls Glee Club The club meets on Mondays and Thursdays under the dtrectton of Mtss Htlda Mtdgstck and Mtss C race Alexander of the Conservatory The club officers tre Dorts Sadlo prestdent Arlene Dorow secrctary treasurer Alleyan Wtrd socttl churman and Carol Gutman and Donna Burns ltbrartans HO Club meettngs have always been more than a play pertod Hard work and a great amount of practtce were needed to put on such a program as the gtrls gave tn the fall for a student assembly The bug event of the year was thetr sprtng con cert the latter part of the school year Thts concert ts the btg goal of the gtrls tn thts organtzatton Thts sprtng when they sang The Legend of the Dande lton they reached thetr goal and honestly felt they h td accompltshed somethtng durtng thetr year of work The Freshman chorus whtch began enthustastt cally last fall was unable to conttnue tts meettngs because of dtfhculttes tn schedultng a good ttme for practtce Fortunately most of these eager students are sttll getttng mustc tratntng Some of the gtrls htve lotned the Gtrls Glee Club and some of the boys have become members of the newly formed Boys Glee Club whtch we regret to say has no ptcture tn the Annual The Boys Glee Club under the supervtston of Mr S T Burns and Mr Kenneth Davts of the con servatory has about fifteen members who meet on Wednesday and Frtday after school Dtd you know that the band had one of tts most successful years stnce Bob Drummond has been back' Bob who was one of the leaders tn 1942 returned thts yetr upon hts dtscharge from the Army to take full charge of the band Durtng the football season the band never fatled to add gusto to the eventng wtth tts snappy for mattons on the held and tts lusty playtng durtng the games Dtd you see the band members at the O X 1. parade tn October all decked out tn thetr Hal lowe en costumes' Remember how ttred the band was the day they mtrched tn the parade for Ad mtral Ktng tn Lorttn' The members all clatmed they could hardly move for two days afterward tBe sure to look at the ptcture of the Hoat tn the btck of the annual page D4 J Those mustctans , 4 - Y Y, . . . ,. .. .
