President Promotes Development Program President lVilliam E. Stevensoirs main activity this past year was the fulfilln.ent of speaking engagements throughout the United States in connection with the Uberlin College Development Program. This lecture tour began in Oberlin with the dedication of the Sophronia Brooks Hall Auditorium in October. and con- tinued in such major cities as New York, Cleveland. Chicago. lNIinneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit. Boston. and Milwaukee. In addition. several changes were made in the Administration. including the appointment of C. Robert Keesey as Direc- tor of Development. Patil M, Douglas as Director of Public Relations. Miss Louise lVood as Assistant to the President. and Robert li. Dixon as Assistant Dean ofthe College of Arts and Sciences. N'Vith the recent renovations to the basement of Peters Hall finally completed. many of the ofhces moved from their location in Mens Building to Peters and the Administration Building. During the vear. the Departmental Faculties. in some of their more important actions, approved the participation in an American Council for SummerStudy Abroad in cooperation with the Bureau of University Travel. established a General Literature major, and modified the grade and credit requirements for applied music, graduation. and graduate study. 19
