LEFT: Nan Cole holds the Y Publicity Commission's handiwork while Peggy' Aughey types up the information for circulation. The poster announces Religious Conference Speaker Pope's The YW's Community Service Commis- sion's activity ranges from work with children to work with the aged. The Children's Home Committee, one of the YM-YW joint com- mittees, worked with the children at Lorain County Home every afternoon after school. The Nursery Home Committee worked with the younger children. Commission members also worked at the Phyllis YVheatley Commu- nity Center providing group work in crafts, cooking classes, clubs, games, sports, and folk dancing. The Personal Services Committee worked with elderly and handicapped people. The Deputations Committee ranged outside of Oberlin's immediate area, doing special jobs at Lorain's Community Center. The Religious Emphasis Commission provided Vespers, Bible Study, Matins, and worked with the YM in presentingthe Religious Con- ference. It tried to offer a chance for students to pause and think quietly. The Children's Home Committee planned games and crafts for the Lorain County Children's Home. The group also planned a Christmas and Spring party. The Community Ser- vice Commission extended this type of service to other chil- dren and to older people both in Oberlin and in other parts of Lorain County. 32 appearance.
