In October the club was represented at a sailing meet at Denison and took fourth place. During the rest of the year other delegations from the group competed in races with teams from all over the state.. Many of the group's members had, never been in sa sailboat before joining the club.

'zitir5fi7'.11rir1mi 'fi' 'W Bike and Hike Club Cold weather puts a crimp. in the Bike and Hike Clubis activities in the winter, but in the warmer months of the spring and fall the group spreads as far afield as Lake Erie, lVellington Reservoir, Cascade Park, Elyria, the quar- ry, or anywhere else those who gather under the arch choose to go. The group has no regu' lar oliicers, and the arranging ol? trips is informal. Like the Camera Club, the Folk Dance Club, and the Sailing Club. the Bike and Hike club was financed and sponsored by the Social Board. 26 Board. dantz. C3lIl0l'2l Club 4 . The Camera Club's program for the year, designed to further interest in photography and teach its rudi 1HCl1tS to beginners, included a series of Kodak lectures and slides, a salon held' in May, and practical lab meet . ings during which the club actually took phototgraphs. K President Phil Thomas meeting with the organizations permanent secretary, Bob Rankin. 'These two meet weekly to plan the Y's program details, in the office next to the Y lounge in MB. The Y Cabinet, shown above, meets in the Lounge with the faculty advisory board. The Cabinet includes members from all the Y's committees and interest groups and is the main policy determiner. 28 In its sixty-eighth year on campus, the YMCA welcomed students and faculty of all religious back- grounds to continue its program of worship, study, community service, social action, and recreation. The Y's activities are planned by two groups: the Student Cabinet and the Faculty Advisory Board. They are carried out by twenty-eight committees and special interest groups, fully half of which are administered jointly with the YWCA. These corn- mittees are organized in four commissions, on cam- pus religious activities, national and international affairs, community activities, and campus service ac- tivities. Y members started two new groups this year: Archways, a series of daily devotional pieces, and a seminar on higher education. The seminar group offered a chance to make a study of the aims and objectives of a liberal arts education. Faculty mem- bers were invited to provide counsel and present materials for this seminar to study. Other activities range from devotional cell groups to the Y open Forum with the Chance Creek Committee offering an opportunity to get away from it all. The campus Y belongs to the Ohio state organization of Y's, the Geneva Region of student Y's, the National Inter- collegiate Christian Council, and the WVorld Student Christian Federation centered in Geneva.
