reafide on freed You have glanced at the cover and opening pages of this bookg you have seen only leaves and trees. Your question is inevitable-what have those elements of nature to do with a year book whose traditional purpose is to represent college life? Our answer is ready. We had long searched for a unity representative of Oberlin. We had examined ideas, isolated them, turned them over, and reexamined them. One in particular stood out from the rest: What was it, when you first viewed the campus, that stood out from all else? What was it, in the dead of winter, that emphasized the quiet white of snow? What was it, by its metamorphosis, that affirmed spring's arrival? And what is it that cheers you on your way to your eight o'cIocks, what is it that you are subconsciously aware of wherever you go, whenever you go, and whatever you do in Oberlin? Our search for a unity representative of Oberlin had ended. We have tried to show that our trees and our traditions are complementary, that trees and Oberlin are inseparable. A
