Dean Wittke Incidental to Dean Wittke's diversified activities is his ordinary dean's work. An author of well-established reputation, his books sell widely. He is a member of the American Association of College Professors and Chairman of Committee A of that Association. He is interested in conditions relating to academic freedom and has turned down offers for several college presidencies. He is very interested in music, playing the violin in the Conserv- atory Orchestra. An authority on Canadian History and member of innumerable Historical Societies, he shows a CARL WITTKE range of versatility rarely found in one man. Dean of College Dr. Shaw Known as the best dressed man on the Oberlin Campus Dr. Shaw spends most of his time teaching and working out the administrative problems of the Conservatory. He holds the record for the number of recitals attended in the Conservatory this year, 107 in all. Besides being owner of a fine collection of pipes, he also enjoys boxing matches. He is a member of the Committee of Curricula of the National Association of Schools of Music and also does the spade work for the Artist Recitals Staff, sug- gesting programs and contacting artists. -- THOMAS GRAHAM Theology School Dean FRANK SHAW Director of Causerzfalory Dean Graham Our dean of the Theological Seminary, loved by the stud- ents as teacher and friend, leads also an active and varied life outside of Oberlin. He is very well-known as a relig- ious conference speaker, and is in demand generally for Commencement and Baccalaureate Exercises. His well- earned sabbatical comes next September during which he will travel to Africa and South America to study mission work, with special emphasis on the activities of Oberlin Alumni.

Dean Woodworth As counselor for college and conservatory women, Miss W'oodWorth helps in the solution of the trials and trib- ulations of college life. With her Doctorate in English Literature, she very capably taught an English Novel class the hrst semester, on only one weeks notice. Besides her many other activities this year, she attended the meeting of the National Association of Deans of Wonien in St. Louis, which lasted a Week. H lVlARGUERl'IE VVOODWORTH Dean of Women Dean Van Metre Most active as advisor to Conservatory lfVomen, Mrs. Van Metre has Won the friendship and respect of all who know her. She has charge of assigning board and room jobs for all women on the campus. She is a lover of the out-of-doors and spends most of her summers on a ranch. Her keen understanding and ready wit tend to make her the popular person she is. - lWARY VAN METRE Asxl. Dean of Women Dean Bosworth Besides being advisor and guiding light for all College men, Dean Bosworth is a great sports enthusiast. As a youth he played football and he has retained his interest in this sport today. He ofliciates at track meets and in intramural activities. He is also very interested in civic activities, having been a past President of the Oberlin Exchange Club. He is in demand as a speaker by various groups and organizations.
